If that $13 worth of food has to last for awhile, find your local dollar store or discount store; if there's a good one in your area you can find all kinds of great stuff at a much lower price than the grocery store. Our local Dollar Tree has pasta, rice, dry beans, pasta sauce, bread, canned goods (soup, fish, meat, vegetables, fruit) and some frozen foods. Everything is between 50 cents and one dollar. Our Big Lots! is more expensive on some things, but it has a lot of good stuff, and it's still cheaper than the supermarket. Some of the big drug store chains also have great sales on food items.
If that $13 is just for lunch, have a pizza!

Depends, how long will this food have to last? If it's one meal, then whatever you want. If you're talking a week, get a loaf of bread, some tuna, baby carrots, a few apples and a gallon of milk. That should cover all the food groups and still be affordable for you.

you should buy a bus ticket or some gas and go to your local salvation army or other charity place and get yourself a food box. you can do this on a weekly basis, and then your thirteen dollars will complete a few meals. they usually give mac and cheese, soups, rices, instant potatoes, veggies, even cookies and pudding. Try using sausage in ground beef recipes its lots cheaper, and chicken breasts I prefer them cut up my my albertsons butcher block and they usually are from 1 to 3 dollars per pound but they come in precut strips so i can use them in any chicken recipe and it seems to have lots of chicken. spaghetti is cheap. sauce is a dollar, pasta less than a dollar, sausage 1. 50 . its easy too. tuna and pasta with a cream soup of your choice is good and only 2 dollars to make.

Ramin noodles. You can buy 10 for $1.00. I don't know what kind of cook you are but you can come up with some inexpensive meals using ground beef or some other low cost meat. Other low cost meats just have to be stewed for a while before it gets tender. Good luck.

NOT McDonald's!!!
Chinese food is a good idea unless you aren't very fond of it. You should buy something that your tummy will thank you for. Something like bread crackers, humus and vegetables! Yii!

You could get some tuna and some canned beans. I would get some pasta and rice too. then if you have some money leftover, you can get some fresh veggies. You can eat for a week.
