I'm eating about 600 calories a day and my body burns 1900... do I just continue to eat the amount that I burn, or should I work my way back up to the amount I burn?

By the way, PLEASE ANSWER THE QUESTION ASKED. I don't want you to tell me not to begin the diet in the first place, or that I shouldn't try to lose weight because "everyone is beautiful inside, yadda yadda, blah". Thank you. :)

I'm eating 3 meals a day with plenty of food from each group, and a few snacks. Please don't assume that I'm trying to starve myself, that's not what I'm trying to do at all. :( But thank you for the advice. :)

gradually add more calories to your diet and weigh yourself once a week. As you monitor your weight you can determine how many calories you should eat to maintain your new weight.

Unless you've been under a doctor's supervision. 600 is dangerously low and not enough to healthily sustain your body. Intake should not go under 1000 w/o a docs approval.

Having said that, you DO need to get back to a healthy daily calorie intake, even if it means you have to increase your physical activity in order not to gain weight.

Treat your body right...eating so few calories only slows your metabolism (even if you are active)...it will be tough to increase calories w/o your body trying to store them in case you try to starve it again...

You may not want to hear it, but I've been there/done that...bad dieting practices such as calorie restriction have made it very difficult for me to lose weight as I've gotten older (I'm 42 now). I have to work twice as hard as the average person to lose...and I can gain weight by just smelling food (or it feels that way)...

you need to slowly increase your daily caloric over a good period of time until you get back to an amount greater than your BMR. I would start out very slowly maybe 250 cals a day for 2 weeks. then every 2 weeks increase by 250 cals a day. make sure you are getting plenty of protein and fats (monounsaturated and Omega 3 & 6).

Always burn more calories than you consume. Keep your diet at about 1000-1200 ccal/day x 2wks, then every 3rd week eat about 200-400 ccal's more per day. During the day, limit carbs to fruits, veggies, and fiber. Increase your proteins in the morning, and avoid carbs in am - this way your metabolism works faster throughout the day.
