When does my Directv HD receiver use the phone?

Is it daily, weekly, or monthly?

Only when you purchase pay-per-view. It doesn't even need to be hooked up if you don't buy PPV. Mine has never been hooked up to the phone and works fine.

The only time you use the phone jack is when you buy PPV movies or channels..

I don't order PPV stuff so I've never bothered to plug in the phone line! :-)=
