I have tried scholarship searches and they all require essays, if not that, they're contests. Where are the scholarships for people with good academic standing?

Check with the college you plan on appyling to. Most colleges have some sort of metir-based scholarship, which can be based on your GPa and SAT score. Some offer sports, art, musical, and even leadership scholarships. Register at fastweb.org to see all scholarships you're eligible for. I will tell you though, most scholarship that are worth alot do require an essay. It's worth it. Just think, one essay could be worth over $20,000.

your school should have several scholarship options available, however, you generally need to fill-out the FAFSA first to be eligible for school scholarships...of course with FAFSA, you may be eligible for federal grants and loans as well.

Well, people aren't going to just HAND you money!

They want to make sure that their money is actually going to a person who will go far in life and do well in school.

Just like any other money, you must EARN it.
