What I have noticed about these Gnostic writings is the crafty way they put in some of the genuine Gospels truth to fool people into thinking theirs is also a true Gospel, very crafty isn`t it!

The term "gnostic" derives from "gnosis," which means "knowledge" in Greek. The Gnostics believed that they were privy to a secret knowledge about the divine, hence the name. (Huxley coined "agnosticism" on the basis that all knowledge must be based on reason. We cannot rationally claim to have access to knowledge that is beyond the powers of the intellect.)

Nope. Gnosticism was a heresy in the first 300-500 years of the early church. They were a very mystical sect who claimed to have a "new revelation" from God but they kept it very secret. Look it up on Wikipedia if you want to read more, they have lots of info. I'll paste the link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gnosticism

Hope this helps

If you are a true Seeker of the Path --as prospectors were in the Gold Rush days-- you'll eventually be able to distinguish and gather some of the gold nuggets, pearls and gems along the way, and you would likewise discard the rest of the pirite Fool's Gold that simply glitter as they flash in the pan...

After all, 'Gnosis' is 'Knowledge.'

Peace be with you.

Seems to me, if the early Church removed and attempted to completely destroy those documents....they must have held SOME information that the Church didnt want to get out..... In that case, they probably are more reliable than the gospels in use today.

I think any new perspective brings fresh insight. Truth? who knows?

I personally like the Gospel according to Biff, Jesus' childhood friend.
