Hypocrites are phonies, people who say the follow Christ but instead practice war, hate and murder. Where is it written that Christ said we should hate and murder our fellow man? Having read the Bible myself, I see that Jesus actually taught Love and Forgiveness. How can this be misinterpreted, "Love your neighbor as yourself"? or "Do good to those who hate you"? Would it not be more honest to call those who are Hypocrites what they are instead of labeling them Christian? A person who practices Hate is not a Christian! How can a person say one thing and do another and still be considered a Christian? Why would that person not rather be labeled a liar and denounced as a Hypocrite? How could anyone be so easily deceived?

006 - Hmmm. It is difficult for me to believe that you have not heard of the Golden Rule which is in the Bible as a Quote from Christ, a touchstone of Christianity. Do you think that the KKK follows this Rule 006?

sleepybuckets - Not you personally. Sorry for the blanket statement but I have seen hundreds of questions from professed atheists who bash Christians based on the behaviour of Hypocrites. I challenge you to view the question history of your fellow atheists and see what I mean. I simply wish to set the record straight. Peace.

So, if you do something hypocritical... you wouldn't get upset if someone said "You're not a Christian". Or, because you believe in something in the religion a little differently than the next Christian, you wouldn't be upset if someone said "He's not a REAL Christian - he's one of those phony Christians." You wouldn't stand up and call them a liar?
See where this leads?
And, honestly, until us Non's can see a bit more unity within Christianity, we have to assume you are all Christians. Just saying "we all agree on the basic things" doesn't work, because not all Christians agree on the basic things. One of the biggest arguments in the religion is "Is Jesus God?" There are just as many who say "yes" as there are who say "no".

Depending on what God they are talking about. The Lord God are one in the same. He forgfives 770 times. And die on the cross for you and me. And gave his only son. To keeps us from going hell. He said the you must be born again. To enter the kindom of heaven. Some people would say. That isn't true. If you are a good person. You would go to heaven when you die. That a lie from the pit hell. God said there no good men. Our heart are disperly wicked. Becuase we were born into sin. I may be wrong. In my believe. But what if I am right. Then it may to late. I have nothing to lose, But the ones that don't accept. They have everything lose. And it will enterity. To where they are going when they die.But God he will pronounce judgement on this earth..Deuteronomy 6:15
For the LORD your God, who is among you, is a jealous God and his anger will burn against you, and he will destroy you from the face of the land. Galatians 6:7
Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows

I don't believe most atheists define Christianity by the behaviour of the relatively few religious fanatics who simply make the loudest noise. Atheists in general simply define "theism" as a certain belief system that revolves around the unproven, but strongly believed in, existence of a mysterious invisible superbeing. They, themselves, cannot accept that premise. It doesn't mean they have some kind of fomenting hatred for those who do believe that way, while they, themselves, are frequently the objects of that kind of hatred by people who don't even know them
We could turn the question around and ask why it is that Christians and other Superbeing advocates, define Atheists by the relatively few extremists and wackos that they have in THEIR ranks, and giveTHEM a bad name. Every single group, and category of humans on the planet, have many members who are just regular people, living very ordinary, honest, decent, unremarkable lives, and act no different from anybody else. They just have chosen to believe in different ways is all. But those same groups also have their share of fanatical extremists who have hijacked the tenets of their group's mainstream beliefs and twisted them to best suit their own wacky, mentally warped agenda.
Seems to me these days there are people sounding off and expressing their dislike, or disapproval, or downright hatred of others for no better reason than that they simply do not share the particular belief system of the ones doing the hating.

Well I didn't ever hear any of you speak up when George W decided to destroy Iraq and claim it was gods plan.(BTW words out of his own mouth) People still dislike Germans due to the Holocaust even though there are few left alive who were actually involved under Hitler's Reich. This is what happens when a large group gets together and does horrible things throughout history and it will be a long time before the world forgets these things no matter how hard you try to cover them up. If you kill even only one person do you think everyone will easily forget even if for the rest of your life you only do good? Now apply this to the millions of unknown people that have died in the name of god and multiply that by the billions of families of those people Do you ever think it would be possible to forget these atrocities in the name of god. Even if the people back up these war lords are they not in turn just as responsible? following blindly and not standing up & resisting even if it means your own death

The bible book of Numbers is perhaps the bloodiest and most disgusting display of wanton violence ever cannonized. Anyone who follows the God of the book of Numbers is a fool. You've already read it, you say? Read it again. This God of yours is a horrible murderous savage. I refuse to acknowledge that, if there is a god, this one is He.
What's more, either Christians worship this God and are wicked like him, or they are hypocrites. Either way, I reject all Christian belief categorically based on this portrayal of their deity. I realize that Jesus was a revolutionary and a peaceful man, but he too worshipped this bloody God and upheld the Law of Moses- he is also wicked.
The Pentatuch was written by a murderer, for a murderer, and brought about only murder. Jesus lived by the blood soaked book , and died by the book as well. I consider it fitting.

Partly it's because many atheists and non-Christians have actually read some of the Bible, and know for a fact that it teaches that those who aren't Christians are said to go to Hell. Understanding that, it's easy to recognize that's what Christians believe.
Partly it's because we don't see a great deal of outrage from Christians when Christians tell us we're going to "turn or burn".
Partly it's because we recognize a partronizing the "love and compassion" and the comments of "I'll pray for your soul" that we often see.
I'm not saying I hate or despise Christians; I don't. But it is rare to hear from a Chrstian that what I believe is valid. It's the rare one who recognizes that Deity is universal, and that the ways of worship and recognition are different, and that no-one really knows what Heaven or God really is.
So, when I come across Christians who aren't "sorry for the state of my soul", or who don't believe that because I'm a Pagan, I'm going to hell, I'm actually quite pleasantly surprised.

Judaism - tried to be "ethnically cleansed" Muslims - because of the fact they are Muslim, are concept to be terrorists because of the fact some Muslims are customary terrorists. Mormons - Bashed for a whole EPISODE OF SOUTHPARK Jehovah Witnesses - Bashed ninety 9% of the time that they look at your door bothering you on the weekend. back the place people are not loopy Ned Flanders Christians, you will get off your intense horse and understand that very nearly each faith on earth is persecuted in some unspecified time interior the destiny. so some distance as Christians flow, the final time they have been somewhat persecuted became in Rome and it became extra then 2000 years in the past. don't be a whiny crying infant. The final I heard Christians weren't getting doorways slammed of their faces, bashed for a whole episode of southpark, being killed for being Christian, and being observed as a terrorist because of the fact they are Christian. different cultures have it plenty worse then you definitely chum.

There is just so many among your leadership that it is hard not to. I am sure you will see quite a list in answer to the question. It really does seem that the vast majority has some type of moral problem along the way. (Note: I did not say all, just most)
You guys keep putting them in charge. How can you expect that we not think it.

Yes, I am a Christian, and I am ashamed by people who claim to be Christian but act just like the pagan athiest. I wish those people would stop being stupid because it makes Christianity look bad.
But the fact is, even Christians who don't act like Christians, are not worse as the rest of the world(especially those hateful athiest!)
