You can only get a protection from abuse order if she has physically done something to recently. You must show taht you are in fear and unsafe at this point in time. From what you have said that does not seem to be an option for you. She can not be put in jail simply for a threat but you can certainly contact the police. You should talk to your legal gaurdian and the two of you weigh the options available and see what will ensure everyones safety mostly yours.

Yes, you should call the police, and/or Family & Child Services, immediately (check your local phone book, in the front). She has threatened your safety, and you fear for the safety of others as well. She is more likely to hurt someone if you DON'T get the police involved.
Perhaps they can't put her in jail just for threats, but they can make sure she no longer has custody of or access to anyone she was threatened.
If you're not sure who to talk to, you can also report it to your teacher, dean of students, or principal. They are legally required to report the matter to social services/police, and need to know that your mother should have no access to you or your records.
Stay safe honey!

Your Mom can be charged with threatening death. If you plan on calling the police, keep the message so they can hear it. If they decide to charge her a warrant will be issued for her arrest and she can be picked up if she shows up in your area. Even if you chose not to lay charges, you can still report it to the police and they can put it on file. They can also have a Texas copper go speak to her and tell her not to call you again or she could be charged.
Good luck.

Absolutely can you have your mother thrown into jail and possibly even prison for such a threat to you. Please don't sit there any longer and ask "what should I do?" Call the police as well a child services. Your mother may even be able to get court ordered help for her fairly obvious anger management problems. By the way, start studying martial arts. You might need them some day.

Take that letter to the police and please file a court order on her
Protective order if you get that one is the best because if she even comes within a hair of you The police can arrest her
A restraining order is not the best it only allow the police to tell to get away.
I had police officier tell this to me so I do believe what he says
Please do something like that so she cant come and harm you
Good luck
