Every day you lose water through your breath, perspiration, urine and bowel movements. For your body to function properly, you must replenish its water supply by consuming beverages and foods that contain water.
A couple of approaches attempt to approximate water needs for the average, healthy adult living in a temperate climate.
Replacement approach. The average urine output for adults is 1.5 liters a day. You lose close to an additional liter of water a day through breathing, sweating and bowel movements. Food usually accounts for 20 percent of your total fluid intake, so if you consume 2 liters of water or other beverages a day (a little more than 8 cups) along with your normal diet, you will typically replace the lost fluids.
Dietary recommendations. The Institute of Medicine advises that men consume roughly 3.0 liters (about 13 cups) of total beverages a day and women consume 2.2 liters (about 9 cups) of total beverages a day.
Even apart from the above approaches, it is generally the case that if you drink enough fluid so that you rarely feel thirsty and produce between one and two liters of colorless or slightly yellow urine a day, your fluid intake is probably adequate.

More then everyday, all day. I drink about a gallon a day all year. I don't drink because I'm thirsty, I drink because I know how it works in the body and how much the body uses it. During my intense training for my last body building show I drank over 500 lbs of water in nine weeks. Counting the weight of the food I also ate I'm guessing close to 1000 lbs of intake of food and water and I still lost 15 lbs in that nine week period and that's not a strange fact, its normal.

They recomed 8 glasses of water. But that is a measurment. Your body will abosrb water in all food and drink you concume. So the answer will vary depending on what you eat and drink. If you feel thirsty, your body is saying more water, so consume.

OK so there is this diet called the 40-30-30 you may have heard of it i don't know. The iet book tells you how much water you should drink a day by doing a simple calculation. It says to take your total body weight and divie that by two and tht how many ounces per day you should drink.
So lets say you weigh 170 you take that and divide it by two
170/2=85 fl. oz. 85 fl. oz. is about 10-11 cups a day.
try this method and see if it works for you.
It works for me and i feel great!!
