Drink LOTS of water to hydrate it from the inside, and put a good quality moisturizer on it on the outside.

You got 10 options:
1 ) Don't try to drink dryness away.
2 ) Use cooler water or Luke warm water to bathe.
3 ) Follow each bath immediately after you get out of the tub mopping with your towel fast.
4 ) Put the moistener again when the skin drys.
5 ) Don't use any oil as moisturizer.
6 ) You can also use oatmeal as a soap substitute.
Tie some colloidal oatmeal in a handkerchief, dunk it in water, squeeze out the excess water, and use as you would use a soap.
7 ) Use a soap if you want, but only DOVE soap.
8 ) Don't soap often.
9 ) Use a air conditioner next to your bed.
10)Keep your house cool.

I find body oil is the best thing. Be sure to use one that's plant based, not mineral oil. Neutrogena makes a good one. Put it on wet skin after you get out of a shower or bath, then dry yourself off.

It's not at all heavy, but it gets rid of the flaky, itchy, dry spots very well.

Unfortunately, you can't get rid of dry skin, but you can treat it. Use a mild body bar or cleanser like Cetaphil or Dove when you bathe. A combination of water and heat from hot showers and baths dry skin out. It is best to take short warm to "as cool as possible" showers, avoid baths as they contribute to dry skin. When toweling off, pat dry.. don't rub. This leaves your skin slightly damp after drying off. After toweling off, apply a rich body lotion or cream like Lipikar Baume by La Roche Posay, Eucerin, or Aquaphor. If all else fails, seek a local dermatologist for treatment.

exfoliating your skin and using a good moisturizer. What helps is to take a warm, not hot, shower before bed, putting on lotion then your pajamas. This helps to seal in some of the moisture. Also as soon as you get out of the shower pat yourself dry then apply your moisturizer right away.
