They won't...Unfortunately, our society doesn't accept the idea of men and women being friends. If you were fat and/or ugly, they probably wouldn't say anything at all.
Do they think you're a whore? Are they saying nasty things about you because you hang out with this guy?
Ever see them hanging out with any guys? If so, do they not understand that standards apply to them as well? In other words, if you're a whore for having male friends - they're obviously whores too if they hang out with guys. I can almost promise you that if you were to put this into perspective for them, they'd shut their damn mouthes.
Most of the time, people that gossip have too much time on their hands. They think their **** doesn't stink and are always looking for something to pin on someone else. Blow it off.

The same thing is happening to my son and a "girl" friend of his. They are not dating, they sit next to eachother in almost every class. There is nothing wrong with that at all! They are best friends and it is great! I told him when I was in high school my best friend was a guy and to this day we are best friends and we have been out of school for 20 years. His wife and I are friends also. Dont let stupid *** punks ruin a great friendship, dont listen to what they have to say. Let them think what they will. Happy Holidays

The "friends" that are dissing you are not your friends. Please try to think of them as immature. As soon as something else comes along, they will pick on someone else.
The best way to handle it is to ignore it. You can give them the "look" and say, "whatever". Don't feed into it by trying to explain. They are not interested in hearing reasons. It is very difficult to let it go, I know, but please try. Good Luck.

Be sarcastic and make them shut up ;)
"Yes I'm deeply in love with him, but your boyfriend asked me out... so I'll probably go out with him. . . he's kind of hot." and then wink and walk away ;)

who cares, let them talk, at least they care enough about your life to notice. Look at it that way, it should make you feel important
