Islam is the fastest growing religion due in large part to high birth rate, but also an amazingly high conversion rate. There are more Christians on the planet but of those so-called Christians, probably a third of them would actually consider all self-described Christians as "Christian".

In terms of growth rate though, it is Islam.

I won't tell you anything about our Church but show you the statistics and let you check them out for yourself.

Worldwide, there are over 12 million Mormons, nearly the same as the number of Jews.

In the United States the LDS Church is the 4th largest individual denomination with over 5.5 million members, a population about equal to the number of Muslims.

Only 12% of all Mormons live in Utah. Most Mormons do not live in North America.

Aside from the United States, other regions with significant Mormon populations include Mexico and Asia (1 million members each), South America (3 million members), and Central America and Europe (about half a million each). The rapid growth the Church has been experiencing in Africa, where there are already a quarter of a million members, is particularly exciting.
After Catholics, the LDS Church is the largest religion in ten U.S. states.

LDS Worldwide Statistics (Selected Countries): Country Percent LDS Country Number of LDS
Tonga 46.0% USA 5,503,192
Samoa 36.0% Mexico 980,053

Cook Islands 8.3% Argentina 339,929
Marshall Islands 7.0% United Kingdom 180,095
Chile 3.3% Guatemala 196,777
Palau 2.1% Canada 166,442

Uruguay 2.5%
New Zealand 2.35%
Guatemala 1.34%
Honduras 1.6%
Bolivia 1.6%
Ecuador 1.2%
Peru 1.4%
Belize 1.0%

In the last 50 years, membership has increased ten-fold.
In the last 15 years, an average of 800 people have joined the LDS Church every day.
Absolute growth is greatest in Latin America, but the rate of growth is highest in Africa and the former Soviet bloc.
In 1984, a prominent non-LDS researcher estimated that our membership would top 265 million by 2080 and said we would be the "first 'new' major world religion since Islam." So far growth has exceeded his model's predictions.

Christianity is still the most rapidly growing world religion, and is predicted to encompass about a third of the world. In other words, 2.5 billion people practice some form of Christianity, whether that be Protestant or Catholic or what have you.

Muslims are the second most quickly expanding religion and now number 1.2 billion worldwide.

Judaism, Buddhism, and Hinduism are not growing all that quickly and don't anticipate much expansion in the coming years.

Buddhism
The Australian Bureau of statistics claims Buddhism to be the fastest growing religion in Australia in terms of percentage gain with a growth of 79.1% for the period 1996 to 2001 (200,000→358,000)

Falun Gong
No reliable data is available for the number of adherents of Falun Gong but as this religion was only established in 1992 most of the growth must have been by conversion. Estimates for the number of adherents for 1999 range from 2 million to 100 million

Christianity
As Christianity is the largest religion in the world, any increase in the world population will give Christianity a greater absolute number of new members.

The U.S. Center for World Mission claimed a growth rate of 2.3% for the period 1970 to 1996, (slightly higher than the world population growth rate at the time). This increased the percentage of Christians from 33.7% to 33.9%.
The World Christian Encyclopaedia estimates that Christianity receives 2,500,000 converts a year.

Islam
Most of the data for Islam are based on the higher than average birth rates and consequent population growth of Muslim countries and communities, along with the effects of immigration.

The World Almanac Book of Facts 1935 estimated 209,020,000 Muslims in the World. The Readers Digest Almanac 1983, estimated 700,000,000, Comparing these two estimates gives an average annual growth of 5% or 10,228,750 for Islam over these 48 years[5] But note that this value is unreliable as these rates are calculated from two separate sources, which may have used different counting rules.

A United Nations' survey showed that between 1989 and 1998, Europe's Muslim population grew by more than 100 percent, due mainly to the effects of immigration. Ontario Consultants on Religious Tolerance] have an unsourced claim of 2.9% per year
The World Christian Encyclopaedia estimates that Islam receives 865,000 converts a year.
In 2006 countries with a Muslim majority have an average population growth rate of 1.8% per year (when weighted by percentage Muslim and population size) This compares with a world population growth rate of 1.12% per year.

Non-Religious
The American Religious Identification Survey gave Non-Religious groups the largest gain in terms of absolute numbers - 14,300,000 (8.4% of the population) to 29,400,000 (14.1% of the population) for the period 1990 to 2001 in the USA.

Wicca
The American Religious Identification Survey gives an average annual growth of 143% / 11,454 for the period 1990 to 2001 (8,000→134,000 - U.S. data / similar for Canada & Australia)
