where are you pulling the number from
the true number is the embossed number on the front
Im not aware of any card that doens't use groups of 4 as the number.. moist are 16 digits, some 12,some 20

are you confusing the number with the printed number on the back. id so then the last 3 digits are the crude security code that is meant to be used when you are buying goods from a distant seller (either mail order, internet or by phone). That number shoul dnever ever be disclosed for any other purpose

All switch cards used to have a 19 digit number.

Many of them would have a random number - then your six digit sort code - then your 8 digit account number - then four seemingly random numbers.

This was changed about 3 years ago as a security feature and to bring all card numbers in line with the standard 16 digit long card number.

If you have a card that was issued some time ago and has not yet expired then it is possible that it still has the old 19 digit long card number.

If this is the case you will need to quote long card number and card issue number.

Hope this helps.

You give the whole long number across the front. Does not matter whether it is 16 or 19 digits. That is how companys identify your card.

I have a maestro card and I always give the full number on the front of it. then the three digit security number on the back and I've never had any problems.

Give all the numbers, and it is classed as a 'Switch' when you go to online checkouts.
