Because you put your trust in them and you depend on them to keep you safe and happy.

Because you think this person would NEVER do anything (intentionally or not) to hurt you. And because you love this person so much, everything this person does will effect you 5x as much. A stranger on the street could call you a ***** and you may think nothing of it, but when your significant other calls you a *****, it'll feel like that person just stabbed you in the heart....and is still stabbing you. It's mainly just because strong feelings are attached.

The old saying, "You only hurt the ones you love" is true because they are the only ones you CAN hurt. Anybody else you just make mad. The kind of "hurt" you are talking about does not exist outside of love. The same behavior from somebody you did not care about might piss you off, but it would not "hurt".

The reason is again that unexplained feeling LOVE. It is bcause u love him/her the most, u r concerned the most abt ur lover , u want him to b the person made out of ur mind, thoughts and imaginations. U love him bcause u find him so but whenever we cannot relate our loved ones with our best in immaginations, that is what we think he/she should be it HURTS us.
Pains , sorrows and coming together again is part and parcel of love.

they don't mean to. Think about it like this. If someone you barely care about did the same bad thing to you that someone you loved did to you it wouldn't hurt nearly as bad. The ones we love hurt us the most because those are the ones we are most open and vulnerable to.

I think that it's because they know that they can always count on you to love them no matter what. It's easy to take advantage of your loved ones because we accept this type of behavior as a norm. I recently realized that it is not love that motivates this type of behavior but selfishness. Sure from time to time we all get selfish but we also try to remember is to stop most of the time. I have been in a relationship with someone who will justify his selfish and hurtful actions and blame me for them. If someone does not eventually stop hurting others, it is not 'love' they are acting in nor is it 'acceptable'. What it is is time to cease the relationship because love should not hurt as a 'norm'.

I think its just the fact that we would give up the world for the person we love. If they displease us, we feel like Juliet (or Romeo?) with the dagger through the heart. Does that make sense? My friend loved this guy a whole lot, but she was in pain later because she felt like she gave him all she had to show him how much she loved him. Sorry if this does not make sense, but I did the best i could...

Only because you let them hurt you the most, which is human nature and irrational thinking. No one can make you feel anything if you learn to deal with these feelings in a more positive way. Easier said than done...perhaps, but possible...absolutely.

Depends on what the hurt is coming from...if its minor fights, etc...Then that's just the nature of relationships...If its everyday you are on pins and needles with the other person, and he or she would dump you for someone else in a heartbeat, then its probably not a very good relationship to be in anyway...

Because you give them your all based on a fantasy of who you would like them to be not what's based on reality and in the end they are always who they were in the beginning, a jerk. You put so much love and time into changing and hoping but neglect to protect yourself making you vulnerable to hurt.

Because you hang on everything they do or say and you care what they think. If you don't love someone that much, you could care less what they think, say, or do so they don't have the power to hurt you as much as someone you cherish.
