I've been preventing myself from getting a hair cut because I want my hair to grow but I have really bad split ends that I am constantly picking at. Should I just go and get my hair cut to get rid of the split ends even though I want to grow it out long or does anyone have any advice to stopping this bad habit?

First u need to see a stylist or ask a close friend to trim ur ends. Second, avoid heat as much as possible to ur hair. Three, deep condition, ur hair once a week. Fourth, wear a style that is easy to manage. Fifth, watch ur hair GROW

you NEED to get a hair cut to get rid of the split ends! you have to get a regular trim or else the spit ends will end up taking over and you will have to cut it off anyhow. just keep up the trims and your hair will still be able to grow out.

you can put your hair up, to keep yourself from picking at the split ends. however, it is bad for your hair and will cause more split ends! it is an endless cycle, my dear!

ok, why do people say your hair will grow faster after a trim? your hair is dead... and it grows from the roots. your ends have nothing to do with your hair growing any faster. but if rather if you do have split ends your hair will break off. that does make it look like it is not growing.

Just get a trim and cut the split ends off and when you do that it will help your hair grow out faster because it is healthier. or if you really really dont want to get a haircut then put a conditioner mask on your head, all you need to do is put conditioner at the part that is dried out or has split ends and let it set there for about 10 to 20 min and do this about every other day. it works.

You need to get regular haircuts, even if you are letting your hair grow. Go get a haircut to get rid of the split ends and then get regular haircuts every 4 to 6 weeks. If you tell your stylist that you want to let your hair grow out, she will just cut off the dry ends. Your hair will grow longer, it will just take a little longer and your hair will look healthier.

First of all, your hair does not grow from the ends, it grows from the roots. But getting a hair cut will take stress off of your roots and make your hair grow faster. Definetly get them cut, because split ends will go up your hair if you keep picking them. One of my friends, Tammy, has split ends up to the middle of her hair, and its hideous. When you cut your hair, ask the hairdresser if they have a product to fix or prevent split ends. I hope I helped.

Happy Holidays! :)

You answered yourself in your first question. your isn't going to grow if the ends keep splitting. The ends won't split AS BAD if you keep your hair trimmed every six weeks.

Getting your hair cut actually helps your hair grow. However, your damaged split ends don't.
