You shouldn't feel like a jerk to not have money and or a present at this time of year. I am not going to tell you to hobble something together but if you are concerned for the daughter maybe you could tell your Dad and ask him what to do. Maybe if she is really young and doesn't understand the whole season you may be able to borrow a couple of bucks from Dad.

If she is older she should be cool with not exchanging gifts. It would feel awkward to recieve a gift and not give one but you should try and communicate with your Dad.

I am assuming you are a little older and you are in a divorced family. You could always talk to your Mom if that is an option too.

It is too bad that Christmas has become all about a pile of gifts and keeping counts on them because once you are over that it is nice just to visit family. Probably this is one of the main reasons that there is so much stress at the Holidays. Of course getting together brings up lots of issues and that may be the second reason lol.

Don't feel bad just talk and they will know where your heart is. Many people haven't got alot of money and they make it through too. I'm sure your Father would rather spend time with you rather than not over presents.

For less than $5 you could make a really pretty tray of frosted sugar cookies. Just buy the tube of cookie dough and a tub of white frosting. Divide the frosting out into different bowls and add food coloring to make different colors. Bake the cookies, cool then frost. Arrange these on a pretty tray, or maybe a box lined with aluminum foil. The colors of the cookies reflected on the aluminum foil will be very nice. This would be a gift from your kitchen that the whole family could enjoy.

You already got a ton of great answers, the cookie idea is great, how bout a picture of you?...I am a parent wit broke kids, that is what I would really want...an also you being there is what he wants the most...It sounds you are a thoughtful young woman, that in itself, is a gift that many fathers and blended familys don't have...relax and enjoy your time with him.
Try to be helpful around the house and hellp like with the dishes and what ever you can...have fun...no more stressing!!!!

make him a christmas card yourself, or bake some cookies, you could even write a poem or short story about him or to him or something. get online and google some homemade christmas gifts/cards and see what you can come up with if you can't think of anything on your own. The homemade ones come from your heart and mean a lot to those you give them too. Good luck sweetie, and have a very Merry Christmas.

Well it depends on what you call broke. There is always the dollar store. I am 24 years old and my dad to this day still enjoys me just telling him that I love him. You could make a card. The dollar Store has some nice things in there.......try it out. I hope your x-mas will still be bright.

Homemade gifts come from the heart and go straight to the attic for next year. Its the thought that counts, though.

I've heard that re-presenting isnt a bad idea. If you recieve a present, give it to your father. Just unwrap it and say you didnt have any giftwrap.

Bake! That's what I'm doing this year and I'm broke! Look online for some holiday recipies and then get the stuff. It's usually pretty cheap! Find out what kind of stuff your dad, stepmom, and stepsister like and bake it up! Happy holidays!

I know this doesn't really help, but he is your father. If he loves you, he wouldn't care. A gift is a gift, remember what Christmas is really about. He will understand, especially if you were broke. Good luck and Merry Christmas.

Give them a rain check you can make it yourself. Maybe for washing the car or helping around the house. Maybe baby sitting if she is of that age. You could also offer a movie, when one that they want to see comes out, Maybe you will have the money then.

As a parent--I am sure that just being there will be enough--take your dad aside and let him know that you're broke and apologize--he'll understand!
