it's not a myth. while you're smoking, your body has to expend extra calories to process the toxins from cigarettes. once you quit, those extra calories get stored as fat since they're not being used anymore.

Some people gain weight coz they replace the cigarettes with sweets or eating generally. Actually stopping the smoking does not cause it;

Yes, it works for me. I have suffered from constipation all my life, and, apart from glycerin suppositories, a cigarette is the most efficient laxative I know. I only have one a day to keep me regular, otherwise I get constipated. I have no desire to have more than that. If I could find an effective alternative I would give up with no problem - but I haven't found one yet.

i dont think so, the only way that is possible is if you eat to much after you quit smoking because the majority of people who quit smoking find an alternative think to do in some cases eat so thats the only way u can gain weight if u get addicted to food after you quit smoking

Nicotine can speed up your metabolism. Eating more is the main reason you gain weight. I gained 60 pounds.

The reason people gain weight when they quit is they tend to eat more in an attempt to satisfy the oral fixation from the cigarettes...they'll snack more and suck on candy and such, to help with the cig cravings, thereby consuming calories they wouldn't otherwise.

Initially wen people start smoking, they eat less, and it does stop you from being hungry. But this stops after you smoke a few months. When you quit, you want something to do with your hands so you replace smoking with eating.
