having a tongue ring doesnt hurt...its the next day and the day after that, that is the painful and uncomfortable part because of the swelling..it also makes it difficult to eat and talk for the first few days but after two weeks you have the bar changed for a smaller one which makes things a whole lot easier and comfortable...it heals within 6-8 weeks...as for a belly button ring..this piercing also does not hurt but it does take up to 5 months before it is healed completely

TONGUE ring heals in two months, feels healed in like a week and a half, and it's almost impossible to get an infection. Belly ring takes up to a year to heal and can get infected easily because of clothes. I would say belly since it'll probably be your first make it something hidden. I have both. Got the belly first, almost got infected because I wear my pants to my bellybutton and it rubbed against it till i stopped. Belly hurts slightly more but both pretty much don't hurt at all.

I have both done...the tongue is actually not that painful...especially not compared to the belly button
noone noticed my tongue ring unless I called attention to it...and it healed in just a few days
the belly button ring was quite painful..took a while to heal...and catches on my jeans/clothes...even though I've had it several years..when it catches..it hurts!!
besides...it's easier to change out the tongue ring jewerly and it's usually less expensive....
I enjoy both of mine...but if I had to choose one..I'd go with the tongue ring first....
good luck...hope this helped

It is much easier to hide a belly ring than a tongue ring. When people first get it done their tongue swells and it makes you talk funny. I had my belly pierced for 3 years before my Dad ever knew.

Belly button is definately the best first choice. A tongue piercing is not only painful and difficult to take care of, but will swell your tongue up and make you talk funny for days as well. It's also difficult to change, and can cause dental complications, because of teeth are not meant to tap against metal all day.
The belly button, however, is as painless as a piercing gets, easy to take care of, rarely infected when cared for properly, and probably the most concealable piercing that you can still be able to show off when you want to.

Belly button...Honestly a tongue ring is disgusting. First off it hurts, it gets infected easily and you cant eat for like a week. I just really wouldnt go that route.
I got my belly button done but now that im older I wish I wouldnt have gotten any at all. They just leave scars on your body when you are older and over the rebel stage and want to look classy.

If you say that you want to conceal your piercing then i would recommend a belly piercing. They do sell flesh colored tongue rings but it its still quite obvious. I know a couple people that have chipped teeth from biting down on a tonge ring! No matter which you choose always be careflu and be sure to keep them clean and sanitized! best of luck
