I have two theories,
1st
start a regime of ibuprofen and cepacol gargling with warm salt water between doses
or
2nd
Slam your hand in a car door.
I've personally used both methods (not intentionally) and they both worked. Of course now I start to feel the cold weather in my knuckles, days before it arrives and it hasn't help my typing skills a bit.

Aspirin or Ibuprofen can help a sore throat immediately. Along with throat lozenges - I think that's about the best way to calm a sore throat. Hot tea with lemon and honey can soothe your throat as well!
Good luck - and enjoy your vacation!

I take an anti-inflammatory pain killer (ibuprofen, tylenol, whatever) and have some nice hot tea...then have some sore throat drops and give your voice a rest for a while (no shouting!) Hopefully you will be back to normal in no time!!

Gargle with warm salt water. Tastes nasty and might burn your sore throat, but it helps.
