My dog begs to go out at least 10 times a day. Half the time she won't even do her business. She is 10 yrs. old. When she was younger 2 times was all she asked for but now she is driving me batty. I want her to be comfortable but I think she is associating going out with getting a treat. Should I take her every time she begs or just give her the treat and be done with it.

She sees a vet often and has a clean bill of health.

My german sheperd is 9 yrs old and does the same thing, it is irritating lol, but just give her time in the yard, and reduce the amount of treats you give her each time you let her out...Hope that helps

i take my dog outside three times a day, in the morning, early afternoon, and at night, and only give her a treat after her nightly walk. sometimes though older dogs like to go outside a lot. I don't know why, but my my uncle's dog when she was around that age liked to go out a lot and my friends dog is 13 an she likes to go out a lot more than she used to. I think its just because they're getting older and maybe they think they have to go to the bathroom but then they go to use the bathroom and they don't have to anymore or they just like getting more fresh air as they get older...it's a mystery but i hope i helped you (^_^)

If she wants to go outside but doesn't do 'her business' then you should award her for that. Your just teaching her that going outside gets her a treat and so she wants to go outside. The rule for potty breaks? Once in the morning, ten to fifteen minutes after meals, and before bed. Anything else is just playtime.

minimum should be first thing in the morning, some time in the middle of the day, and right before bedtime...

...however if you notice her eating/drinking it would be a good idea to take her out shortly after that as well...

...think of yourself...what if you were limited to only being able to relieve yourself a couple or 3 times a day? not many days would that be comfortably adequate...

At ten she probably does need to go out more often. Maybe you could let her out when she asks and just not give her the treat.

As many times as he wants to. Generally two/three times should be about right.

Only give her a treat when she does her business.

Then she will only bother you when she really has to go.
