my dog was like that not to long ago when she kept biting and scratching herself 24/7 i carried her to the vet and they said she had the manes.

Dogs can have some very serious skin problems. Some are contagious to other animals, possibly humans.
No one here, not being able to see the dog, could offer a diagnosis or help. Please take to the vet for answers.
Ever had a BAD case of poison ivy?? Not comfortable at all. He is miserable. And can get a secondary infection from all the scratching and really need meds.

its most likely just an infection. just take him to the vet, and he should be perfectly fine. this happened to my dog not too long ago
