I have the same problem. Besides genetics, living in a humid area will always make it more frizzy. But don't fight the curls! Learn to tame your hair and it will be 10 times sexier than board-straight hair. So many people make a huge mistake trying to mechanically or chemically straighten curly hair and end up with a head of hair that looks frightening and burnt and lifeless. Curly hair is really very fragile, and anger and frustration will only make it worse. But, big curly hair is once again sexy! Yipee for us! But frizziness isn't sexy. You just need to learn how to baby it and emphasize the curliness over the frizziness.
Be careful not to wash too often. Use a really mild shampoo and a conditioner that has no alcohol in it (read the label). Leave the conditioner on at least 2 minutes. Detangle your hair under the nozzle using just your fingers and the action of the shower head. Squeeze out excess moisture. Don't rub your head with a towel, just blot. Wait until it is about 3/4ths dry to run a big wide-toothed comb through to detangle. Never, oh never use a blow dryer!! Next, I love products with simethicone or other synthetic silicones. They don't make your hair look greasy. Look for "...cone" chemicals on the ingredient label. And I get all of my smoothers and shineups in the African-American products section. Way cheaper and more to choose from. I use Citre-shine and something in a pink and black bottle. I don't like Frizz-ease as it is way too heavy. Use only 2 or three drops of the simethicone and rub your hands together, then lightly run your fingers through WET hair. When it is dry, you can add just a few drops more, concentrating on the ends. Never use alcohol-based products or they will dry out your delicate treses. I wash mine at bedtime, detangle with my fingers only, then sleep with a towel on my pillow. It looks wild and ugly in the morning, but is soft and glossy--no frizz! I then use really big hot rollers. Yup, I curl my curly hair! Why? Because the gentle heat of the rollers makes the cuticles of the hair shafts lie flat, so the can catch light and be shiny and soft looking. And I get to control the curliness, thereby taming the evil will of my hair! I only leave the rollers in maybe 2 minutes, then finger-style it. I never, ever brush my hair. Haven't used a brush in 10 years and rarely use a comb. I do use lovely clips and barettes to style my hair. And well-kept curly hair is knock-out beautiful. Watch CSI New York and look at Melania Kanakaredes' hair. Wow ! Paris Hilton sometimes pays a thousand or two to turn her ugly, straight hair into something you can do naturally! Also, I suggest you grow your hair as long as you can stand it. Short, curly hair can just swell up around your head and make you look like a holly bush. I am sure it is more beautiful than you realize. Hey, let me know if these tips work for you!!

I just wanna add something to what deleemar said:
A very good mild but soothing and moisturizing shampoo is Jasön's 84% Pure Aloe Vera Shampoo. I have straight hair but frizzy (yes, there is such thing esp. if one has thick straight hair that is dry) and this is the best shampoo so far. Check it out at:

I haven't tried John Frieda's Serum but Toni & Guy Insights Moisture Injection Serum has done it for me. If deelemar says Frieda's is too powerful (there are two of them I think, one for afrohair, the othe one for non-afrohair), then this one might do the trick, although I was convinced you needed a powerful one for curly hair.

i think of everybody hates frizzy hair...its a nightmare to kind! i think of directly hair is extra classic and curly hair makes a metamorphosis for whilst going out and so on. I additionally quite like unfastened curls, so the hair is directly till 0.5 way down yet curls putting down on the tip!

Comb moose through your hair while still wet, and leave in conditioner. Blow dry it untill its just damp. Sqeeze some serum (which gets rid of frizz, try frizzease) and cover your hair root to tip. Put your hair dryer on cool, and dry a little more, this seals in the moisture. Your hair should still be damp. Now... section your hair, and twist them in ( like reaaaaly tight curls!) Leave to dry naturally, and then spray some hairspray over the hair. Now run your fingers through your hair, and wallah! the curls have dryed, and you have shows it where to dry!

Buy some drops their kind of like oil and just put it on you hair, try flattening it when you do. Dont go crazy with it because if you do, you hair will look dirty.

I use V05 leave-in conditioner. I don't have time to do the hot oil treatment, but this leave-in conditioner works just as well.
