Find your restor disc or buy a new copy of winodws xp or whatever you are using and just put that in and reformat drive and install clean.

You don't really format a computer, you format a memory drive. And to do what you want you would just format your hard drive and then boot with your o/s install disk in cd drive or flopyy whatever. Some installers might just format the drive before installing.

You need to do a system recovery. Send an e- mail to the manufacturer and they will send you instructions how to make your own recovery C D's.Or, if it's a compac and it's under warranty they will send you the C D's free of charge . A recovery takes a couple of hours.Just follow the instructions.

use the restore disks that came with the machine. if you read the options you will find one that does just what you want.
