My boss decided not to get me even a little christmas present. I would think the vast majority of bosses/managers get something for people that work directly under them. Plus he makes enough money that he shouldn't be so cheap.

Christmas is a time of giving and sharing; however, it doesn't mean that everyone has that frame of mind. I'm sure your boss didn't get rich by giving it all away and it's probably a bad habit (being cheap). Don't let it get to you. Instead take the high road and give him a Christmas card to dish him a little guilt.

People with money are consumed with it. I used to work directly under a Broker, who I made alot of money for. I know that she was making 15-20 K a month. Not once did she ever get me a gift. I made her alot of money and helped her to develop her business. But she was using me to make that money. She did not care about me the person only what I could do for her. So to answer your question. People like your boss only care about what you can do for them. They do not see you as a person, or as someone who cares about them. Money hungry people use. It's sad, but it is true.

That is why he is the boss. You never see a generous, giving boss at the top of the company. Nope. It's always the money grubbing, tight fisted slimeballs who would sell their mother's soul to the devil if it got him an inch ahead of the game.

Maybe he's saving his money for his children's education -- that costs tons. Don't take it hard; it's not you. He probably thought about giving you a gift but he actually might be having some financial problems that prevents him from giving gifts to the people that are important to him in his professional life.

It is simply because they are in general CHEAP PEOPLE. It sounds horrible but that is why. You be the better person and get them something, it will pay off some day.
