Because my children get up at the same time no matter when they go to bed. If they go to bed at 7 the sleep until 6:30. They go to bed at 8:30 they sleep until 6:40. We have a much better day when they go to bed at 7. I wish I could have them stay up later, but they just get to crabby.

my kids are 4 and 5. They stay up an extra hour on friday night, but saturday night they have church the next day. Sleep is a great part of learning. The body requires so much sleep to function properly.

I don't get it either!!!! Whenever I sleep over at somebodies house, they make us go to bed at 9:30. Freaks! My bedtime is 12:00. No computer past 11:00 though. This schedule is practical. But all of the good shows are on after nine.

No, My daughter who's 5 (6 in might) is going to mattress approximately 6:30-7:00pm each and each evening. She gets up at approximately 6:30am each and every morning, so i do no longer think of its too early, Its good for them to get sleep. It facilitates with progression. My daughters instructor replaced into very pleased to hearken to she had a early bedtime.

Because come Monday morning they are too exhausted to wake up and go to school because their routines have been interrupted and they did not get enough sleep. I've got 6 kids and though we let them stay up a little later so we can sleep in Saturday, I always regret it when we let them stay up till they pass out (like till 3am!). It always comes back to bite me in the butt!

Because even adults should go to bed and wake up at the same time every day, even on weekends. Consistency is good for everyone.

Well I let my children stay up a little later than normal but they are in school and need to stay on a schedule because on Sundays they can't sleep and are tired on Monday and sometimes Tuesdays too. Especially, my youngest child who is only five..

Two nights isn't enough to ruin a "routine", IMO, so I have always let my kid stay up later than normal on weekends, unless he's been sick. You've gotta let them have SOME fun! Anyway, if you make a big deal of it, you can be SURE they'll fight you and resist and you get into a spiral of combating. Who wants that?!

P.S. This whole idea of "consistency" may work (or backfire!), but when the kid grows up, he/she will be headed toward "nerd-dom" for sure...and they'll probably be INCREDIBLY BORING individuals! Some of my best reading/writing/thinking (esp. as a teen) was done in the wee hours...

So the parents can have time alone and watch whatever movie they want or do what they want. The kids don't have to go to sleep, just go watch tv in their rooms and give the parents some time alone. We watch a family movie and spend time with the kids, then we want some adult time.

so i can get a break from my kid.

its also upsets a child sleeping pattern when they go to bed late on friday and saturday because then they wake up later on the weekends. than on sunday when its time to go to bed early, no one's tired at bedtime because they slept until noon.
