That's just crazy! You'd be much better spending that money on things for the kids through the year - like music lessons or sports lessons or something.
Or, if you've got that kind of money to spend on them on top of other things during the year, make part of their present a charity gift, where you can buy a cow or a goat for a poor family in the developing world. That shows children that there are people much worse off than them, and gives then a sense of responsibility for the world.

all human beings else has rather lots pronounced it, yet i'm going to bypass forward and upload on. That youthful, around $a hundred, in case you have sufficient money to. From experience ( I also have a protracted time 2, 3, 5, and six) some new toys is so exciting at that age. And the packing packing containers and wrapping paper are the main important leisure. i'm managing this wonderful now, yet have desperate on a hundred tops for all of the youngest, and $a hundred and fifty for all of the oldest. They get bigger, and so do the presents. I attempt to no longer bypass overboard with toys with the aid of fact they get broke, lose interest. My young ones like to entice and build and do crafts, so i'm going contained in the path of stamping kits, jewelry making kits, enormous container of crayons, stencils, paper, etc. it quite is a few thing they do no longer outgrow and it shall we them use their mind's eye and create some thing they're happy with. Even enormous toys like kitchens do no longer would desire to be ideal of the line. Get a $30 one and it will furnish the comparable entertainment and final purely as long. does not make you any much less a determine or a undesirable one. does no longer imply you're no longer giving them the main suitable. Christmas is meant to be approximately relatives and togetherness anyhow. no longer how lots somebody spent.

I don't even know how a pound compares to a dollar these days, and it sounds like a lot to me. I really do not like the thing of buying every possible toy for kids; they do not learn to be selective. I think it is better to buy one or two really good toys, and the rest practical stuff like clothes and books. And yes, I mean including everything from grandparents and other relatives. Small items, such as a new item for a growing collection of some sort, is not what I mean. I mean toys which get played with mostly on Christmas day, and then sit around or get broken, or dumped into the back of the closet or the bottom of the toy chest and forgotten.

i think it's down to the individual parent. We have spent around £750 on our two kids this year but they don't get spoiled rotten all year round so 1 day is ok. It's xmas and it's all magical and fun 4 kids. if it's putting u in debt to do this then its a bit excessive but if u have it then y not give children the best xmas u can, they'll be all grown up with responsibilities soon enough. in your case tho there probably is a certain amount of guilt involved but at the end of the day it won't do them any harm!

I can only say it is a lot if it leaves you without money to spend on your own needs, but if your partner after doing this is left with more to splash on you, let him spoil his kids. You should only worry when it affects your domestic budget, however, try asking him why he does it. Do so in a motherly way, telling him you think it's better if he could open bank accounts for them instead. It's just an idea, I hope he won't feel offended by that.

I personally think its way too much..nothing worse than spoilt kids!! would Spend maybe 300 and put the rest in bank account for them..I do the same on birthdays! Even though I have the money in the bank its no good to over indulge your children!

I only spent about £ 80 on my four children this year but I'm sure would have spent £ 80 each if i had the money so its up to you. I just think that they don't really appreciate that amount of money being spent on them.

Hi,
I dont think its too much as long as urnot plunging into debt to do it.
I think u may be right it is more likely to be guilt, but i think that the kids r benefiting in being spoiled at christmas!! and its helping ur partner! Maybe if u feel it is too much suggest doing some family activities like cinema, panto, ice skatinbg etc!

Yes, it's far too much. The true meaning of Christmas seems to have gone forever. My 3 year old got 3 presents from us (totalling £100), she gets presents from all our family too so she's not badly off and is happy and plays with what she gets.
How can they possibly keep track of what they get, most of it will be lost or forgotten within a week, they'll not treasure it and will break it as it means nothing to them.
