I've heard of grape jelly and chili sauce being used, but I want something else. Anyone have any ideas?

Here's the best recipe...

2 lbs breakfast sausage (1 tube of “regular” and 1 tube of “spicy”)
2 eggs
2/3 cup of breadcrumbs
1 cup ketchup
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons vinegar
2 tablespoons soy sauce

1. Mix together the sausage, eggs, and breadcrumbs. Form into meatballs (the size is up to you, but a ping-pong ball size usually works best)
2. In a large saucepan, cook ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar, and soy sauce until heated through. Do this while cooking meatballs.
3. Cook meatballs in a skillet until brown on all sides. When meatballs are finished cooking, drain slightly and put the meatballs into the ketchup mixture. Cook meatballs in sauce for about 20 minutes – this will finish cooking the meatballs and also form a glaze on the balls.

There's also grape jelly + BBQ sauce.

Hawaiian Meatballs

~Meatballs~
1 pound ground burger
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ginger

Mix together and form into balls and dip into a mixture of 1 egg and 1 teaspoon water. Then dip into flour. Saute in vegetable oil until brown and done.

~Hawaiian Sauce~
1 (16-oz) can pineapple chunks
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 TBS cornstarch
1/4 cup vinegar
2 TBS soy sauce
1 green and 1 yellow bell pepper, cut into strips

Drain pineapple and add water to syrup to make 1 cup.

After removing meat balls from pan, add syrup to drippings, stir in brown sugar mixed with cornstarch, vinegar and soy sauce.

Heat and stir until thickened. Return meatballs to sauce and then peppers and pineapple, stirring to coat. Cover and simmer 10 minutes.

Keep in crockpot on low to medium and stir often. Serve over rice or with long toothpicks as a fingerfood.

You could also use premade or frozen meatballs for this recipe.

This is a simple recipe and its quick and easy.
Take 1 lb. ground chuck, add 1 pkg of onion soup mix and mix well. (Do not add any other spices to meat) Take 1 can of crescent rolls, roll out, tear apart and then cut each one down the middle. Now you should have double the amount of crescent rolls. Press each one to make thinner and bigger. Roll together meat mixture to make a 1/2 to 1 inch ball and roll up in each crescent and pull sides up. Bake in oven at 375 degree for 15 minutes or until rolls are golden brown. This only takes around 15 minutes to make, quick, easy and simple.

My granny uses current jelly and mustard to make a sauce to simmer them in. It sounds weird, but it's really good.
