Why do people on here answer a question even if the answer they were going to use is already there?

Have you noticed tht even if the answer that they/you are goin got give is alredy in the answers from other people you stil og ahed and answer with the same answer grrrr!! joking i do it

For the points, and to reinforce to the asker that a certain answer is right.

i usually read the question, go directly to answer the question then i submit it. without reading the answers that's already there.sometimes you start out to answer a question that has no answers and when you submit your answer you see several people were answering at the same time. and sometime you may want to answer the question but decide this time you'll take a look at some of the answers and it's about 48 answers so you don't read them to no if someone has submitted the same answer.

To get points mostly I believe. But there are times I go to answer and by the time I type it and send it, someone gave my answer.

Of course. Getting the same answer from more than one person can be a confirmation of the correctness of the answer.
