Man, I understand. I don't really have an answer for you though.
I don't know; don't lose your faith in mankind. If anything, they're consistent and besides sometimes you meat one that is really loyal. They're rare, but they're out there.
What ever you do, don't turn to the bible. Life is hard enough without trying to figure out that piece of crap and all the hypocrisy around it.

Well at least you have come to realize the way the world works. This can be a good example of who you should not be. I am not trying to dictate your life but you should try to set an example of what people should be. By doing good and helping others, just living a honest life is all the full filament I need and you do not need a god to do so. What better time of year than now to just go out and do something nice and help someone out. Show people what humanity really means, doing something good for the sake of doing something good. Nothing beats helping someone out and in return they try to give you a bible or take you to church with them and you can gladly say No Thanks(just kidding, but it really has happened to me more than once) Do good things and good things come your way, even if it is just the satisfaction of helping someone else you will in return feel better about yourself & your pointless life.

You know what? I agree with you.
Losing one's faith is different than losing one's religion, by the way, though losing faith causes the other.
You know what I think you realized? The promise that being good is its own reward is wrong. That bad things happen and you're wondering how a God can be a God of Love if He allows His devoted followers to suffer in poverty. That people who love money over God are treated better in the church because they tithe more and support the Church more than the person who prays three times a week.
You know what you have been taught as Truth and are finding that mankind (even those you're supposed to trust, like the clergy) is not only fallible, it's often evil. What's worse, people use God to justify their evils, and you don't see them getting punished.
By the way, Saint Nicholas was a man sainted by the church. ( http://www.stnicholascenter.org/Brix?pageID=23 ) The legend that grew up around him is the thing you're having problems with, especially since Coca Cola took St. Nicholas over and turned him into a symbol to push consumerism.
I spent a lot of time trying to return to Christ and God and each time, the followers of the Church pushed me away by not living like God, by picking and choosing scriptures to judge me by, and by ignoring the parables completely (which is what I considered to be the big lessons we're supposed to learn -- to be kind, thoughtful, and remember others before ourselves). I mean, aren't you offended that many Christian groups are trying to redefine what "The Eye of the Needle" is to justify themselves to make money hand over fist at the sweatshop-rate poverty-inducing labor of others so they could feel they could enter Heaven?
It's not about the money or the needle. It's about being ready to help one's neighbor when s/he is in need. It's about being kind instead of greedy. It's not about giving to other greedy people who happen to preach from the pulpit.
You lost faith in the organization man set up around God. If you want to believe, then look outside and find "God" on a mountaintop or around a bend where a doe and her fawns are walking in the forest or as a person brings a freezing homeless person coffee and a hot meal before trying to find him or her a bed at a shelter.

I won't quote the Bible, but I will turn things around a little bit on your philosophy. Perhaps it's God that is in charge of whether you believe or not. You don't have the capacity to turn to Jesus, faith is given if God is going to give it.

Alright, I"m not going to quote the bible Steve, but I am going to say this. ..You started off by saying, "I don't think". So then, don't. Close your eyes, clear your mind and do whatever comes naturally. As long as your heart is in the right place, I don't think it really matters where you turn to for guidance. I, too, was raised catholic. As an adult, only on occassion do I visit a catholic church. I find myself getting more out of a non-demonimational Christian church. My beliefs are that we should all treat others as we would like to be treated. When you have something to give, give it and don't expect anything in return. Love with all your heart, live with all your soul and walk through life as though God was watching your every move. Not much you can truly screw up if you do that.

people even those who profess to be Christians can fail you, so I can totally understand your question. If is hard not to "quote the bible" when I am a believer, but I will not to respect your request. Do not miss turning to Jesus just because people have failed you- I have experienced what you have- someone who called me her best friend betrayed me terribly recently- and it was hard- but the Lord proved himself to me as my faithful God. If you have truly given your life to Christ, He will never fail you- yes it says this in the bible, but here is one Christian who has experienced it in my own life- not just words in the Bible- but truth in my life.

Yes i have. I actually turned to the internet for help and answers and guess wut, i found MY answer. I found witchcraft. Don't get me wrong, i'm not try to "force" my religion onto you but you asked a question and i am answering. I don't really, truly believe the religious stuff(like the gods and goddesses and stuff) but i do love the rest of it. Witchcraft is not wut most people see on TV or was raised to think wut witchcraft is, it's just a strong belief in nature, that's all. Well i won't get into all that good stuff. I just hope that i was helpful in some way. If your intrested in witchcraft,i'm going to leave a link. I hope you do take the time to read it and to clear up any questions about witchcraft you have.

You don't want to "turn to Jesus" because you feel that alot of people in his fan club are royal jackasses. Alot of people feel this way.
You can be what ever you want to be. If you want to "turn to Jesus" then turn to him and live your life the way you see fit. Do not let people tell you you have to follow their interpretation of a Book to find happiness, because in reality its something you have to figure out on your own.

I suspect that you do have some remnants of faith. Do you believe, for example, that when you get into an elevator you will be taken to the correct floor more often than not?
