A great many of us in the world still believe that goodness will prevail over evil and we are willing to fight for Freedom, Justice and the American way of democracy.
As a world power, the USA has a moral obligation to step in when smaller and less developed countries are being bullied or when insane murderous dictators take over and begin to slaughter.
Without this type of intervention, France and England would be speaking German today. We Americans can not turn a blind eye to the cruel in justices of the world and run like scardy cats when the going gets tough.
Goodness, Justice and Freedom is worth the fight and worth fighting for for others.

We kill because we are afraid of our own shadow, afraid that if we used a little common sense we'd have to admit that our glorious principles were wrong. ~Henry Miller, The Wisdom of the Heart, 1941
War is fear cloaked in courage. ~William Westmoreland
Liberty and democracy become unholy when their hands are dyed red with innocent blood. ~Gandhi, Non-violence in Peace and War, 1948
The stench of the trail of Ego in our History. It is ego - ego, the fountain cry, origin, sole source of war. ~George Meredith, Beauchamp's Career
I do not mean to exclude altogether the idea of patriotism. I know it exists, and I know it has done much in the present contest. But I will venture to assert, that a great and lasting war can never be supported on this principle alone. It must be aided by a prospect of interest, or some reward. George Washington

I bet you're a channel-flipper when you watch TV. Counterinsurgency operations are always long, drawn-out affairs. Learn what kind of war our guys are fighting over there before you begin to think you should form any opinions about it. US Marines were in Dominica for ten years and in Haiti for twenty between the world wars, and Vietnam, Nicaragua (by proxy), and countless others all fall into the same time frame. Having beaten Saddam's forces twice in 3d generation wars is a fluke, because 4th generation wars have been with us for a long time. Many of the strategic ideas of our opponents come from Mao's ideas he developed to fight his war in the 1930's.

Because we have declared war against a principle. You can';t ever defeat a principle. It can crop up at any moment, at any place, at any time. The president says that we are at war, so he expands his own power. Now the war is something like the war on drugs that will never end. The president has become an elected king. So if the president wants to keep fighting the war, there is nothing we can do.

To save the Chickenhawk-in-Chief's smirking face. Demand that all the spoiled girly men at the prep schools be drafted as soon as they are 18, and we'll be out of Iraq before they finish their first day of boot camp, which will probably kill half the fatcats' soft little kittens anyway.

The president and the Neocons desperate to save face are trying everything to somehow turn this disaster into a victory. So we will keep bleeding our blood and treasure in this pointless lost cause so the president can save some face. You watch in 6 months even this dumbass will have to admit defeat and pull out or the congress with the publics backing will cut off the cash!

Basically the US is trying to rebuild the government in the country that we destroyed trying to rid the world of terrorism. Any reconstruction takes time. Look how long it took us to clean up the world trade center.... If the US pulls out now it's only a matter of time before the people there turn back to the terrorist.

Because we are fighting for the lost lives at the World Trade Center in 9/11. We are fighting for the lives of firefighters who fought at ground zero and the police officers. We are fighting for those who lost their loved ones at Ground Zero, and we are trying to find the dumb wits who did this to our nation. We are trying to make a democracy in a third world country that has seen nothing but darkness, and with the US's help and UN, we are going to give them light. We are going to give Women the right to vote and excercise that right. We are giving young girls the opportunity to learn and have an education. We are giving kids the freedom to play in the streets without the fear of being kidnapped or killed. We are doing this because its what's right. Its morally right
