Both, if I had to pick one though, it would be the minefield.
I would gladly approve of a tax hike and donate my weekends in to help build the wall and / or pay for the mines.

We do need people like him here. He realizes that illigal immigrants are costing US taxpayers millions of dollars each year due to welfare.
I choose fence though. Mine field would be more expensive after a while and wouldn't go over too well with the rest of the world.

Why not build two fences with a minefield in between. Or a shark filled moat? I'm assuming that you voted 'Yes' to raising your taxes in order to pay for all of this.
Everyone talks about fences and guards and all types of solutions until the subject of cost comes up. Besides, this country was founded by immigrants, remember? Why are we making it more difficult for them to get in? Oh, I forgot, we are the best country (club) in the world - members, only! I'm a proud American, and son of an immigrant. Many people who flee to this country are more willing to work harder at the lower paying jobs than most of us who were privileged to be born here. Yes, there are those who will sneak in and take advantage, but there are plenty of US Citizens on Wellfare too, and we should be even more concerned about them.
That's my rant for the day. Happy Hollidays!

If I found myself trying to get out of America, I'd prefer my chances crossing the minefield. As everybody knows, American weapons are only designed to kill allied troops.
