If he is quiet he is probably shy.. and he probably is nervous about approaching you as well. Just go and say HI. Continue with a conversation you had online.. I really enjoyed talking with you about... what do you think of ...... be his friend first and worry about what might come next ... later . Or don't worry... be friends and just let nature take its course.

If you like him then you shouldn't have troubles. Just trust your heart and dont get hurt. If he acts different when he's in school then dont bother with him because he doesn't want his friends to think stuff about him.
