Just to concur! Chill the whites, serve the reds at room temp;
open the reds about an hour before drinking to let "it breath" this brings out the
true fruity flavour. Generaly speaking a dry red is more
luscius! Greetings from the old country!

To answer your question, you don't have to refrigerate red wines (i.e. cabernet). Most people prefer them at room temperature. But if you want your wine cold or chilled, that's okay too! =P

if you are talking about long term storage, they should either be in a cool dark place or in wine fridge set to mid to low 50 degrees. If you are serving them they need to be in the mid 60s. americans always drink their reds too warm and their whites too cold. best rule of thumb is to open the red about 15 minutes prior to when you will be drinking to bring up to proper temperature.

I believe the best answer is, however you prefer your wine. If you like cold then yes, refrigerate. If you enjoy room temperature then of course, do not.
Reds, typcially are best at room temperature.

Never! Even open, put the cork back in and use a day or two! If you want, leave it out and use for vinegar. Very tasty.
