That's good that you want to adopt children of different races and cultures we need more open minded people like you in this world. But I wouldn't say that you should move to a multi-cultural city to decrease racism because that's bound to come no matter you live but with having children of different races and cultures you will want to have them around children like themselves. I'm sure you can teach them about their heritage but no one can do it better then someone of their own heritage not to offend you. But good luck with everything..

It is most common for parents to want their adopted children to be of a similar heritage to their own. I don't think that it is wrong or selfish- you are talking about taking a child into your home! There is nothing selfish about wanting to care for a child who has had the unfortunate chance of being in the system. The people who generally adopt babies or children from foreign countries have to go through a lot in order to get it done. It costs a lot more than regular adoption and is very messy with lots of red tape to go through. It isn't selfish of you to want a child from your race. I think it's just wonderful that you're willing to share your love with a child. Many people aren't able to adopt.

I think that would be wonderful. And yes, maybe moving to city where all races are accepted may be the calmest move... but think about what your community would be missing. Maybe staying where you are and educating those around you will not only make your town stronger..but your family as well.
Good luck with your decision and remember the adoption process can take some time.

Nothing at all. All of us deserve wonderful, loving parents regardless of race or culture. Adopt as many children as you wish and don't worry about moving somewhere else. All of us need to learn to be more tolerant.

Theres nothing wrong with it. Although there are difficulties. Children know theyre different, and parents know it too. Society exposes them to those differences. The phsycology of it is complex, but generally not major.
They have support groups and social workers who deal with this thing, and help educate you on how to get through it.

Nothing wrong at all. Look at Brad and Angelina.
Don't move - teach your children how to deal with racism appropriately. Racism is everywhere anyway.

There is nothing wrong with it. I think it is wonderful. I don't think you should move anywhere different. You can teach your children about racism and maybe they can teach the ignorant people who obviously live in your town and maybe help to fight racism.

if thats what you want to do then do it. and who cares what other thinks, and you don't have to move anywhere. they are children too and they also need love. it doesn't make a difference in the race or culture you go and do it.
