I'm going shopping for my 3 year old daughter tonight. She loves dolls, art supplies,Disney princesses, she's not into Dora anymore. I would like to get her some things to prepare her for school. I saw some books at the dollar store that teach them how to write numbers and letters. My dad is getting her a subscription to a book club. My sister is buying her a play kitchen. She has a " My first leap pad" (and loves it) I think we'll get her some books for it.
Hope this helps.

A Little Touch Leap Pad. They have them at Target. My 2 1/2 year old son LOVES his. You can do so much with them -- read the book, play a game, play music, touch to make noises...it keeps him entertained for a long time, and it has different levels so it can grow with your child. I love it. Link for the product at Amazon is below so you can see what I'm talking about.

If you have a Disney Store nearby - my daughter loves anything from there and they have clothes, toys, movies etc.
Art supplies and jewelry are always a big hit with my 3 yr old as well.
Good luck!

I work at a daycare and the 3 yearold boys and GIRLS love to play with building blocks, bubbles, Tea sets, cars, yes the girls like to play with cars too. We drive them don't we why should they get to play with them too. Dolls, books,Paint, movies. Even the little cheap toy I have seen they enjoy more. Like the $0.88 toys at wal-mart and Dollar deals and Dollar general.

Big carboard boxes.
Its what she's going to play with anyway. Why fight it. You can tape them together and make an awesome play house.
