well if you study anatomy like I do we learn that the greek root oligo- means "few". Oligodendrocytes are located near axons. they help make myelin sheats for axons but without the neurilemmal sheath like in the peripheral system . Astrocyctes are located between nerve cells and blood vessels.

Astrocytes are the most abundant glial cell. Astrocytes are found in the brain, white matter and grey matter. Oligodendrocytes make up the myelin sheath which coats axons in the central nervous system.
