your cousin having a baby mekes you neither an aunt or an uncle. that would be if a sibling has a baby. when your cousin has a baby you are a second cousin.

If it is your cousin who has the baby the baby is your 2nd cousin...If your cousin is the child of your aunt or uncle who is your mom or dads brother or sister..but if your cousins parents are your mom or dads cousin then your cousin is your 3rd cousin and the baby he or she is getting ready to have will be your 4th cousin... I know that is difficult, but that is the technicality of it all...But either way the baby is your cousin..The only way you are an aunt or uncle is if your brother or sister has a baby...But I have a cousin and my kids call her aunt..

The baby is your cousin, once removed.

A first cousin is the child of your aunt or uncle. The first- second- cousin thing goes from distance from shared grandparents among members of the same generation.

The "removed" thing indicates membership in a differnet generation. So your first cousin is the same distance from the shared grandparents as you (i.e. you have a shared set of grandparents). Your first cousin's child is your first cousin, once removed (i.e. they are further from the shared grandparents; your grandparents are their great-grandparents).

Look up "cousin" in the dictionary and it explains the whole 1st, 2nd, once-, twice- removed thing.

You are a cousin still. In my family my cousins children call me Auntie, because I am so much older, even though they are my cousins.
