Turkey..in the oven first...get a big roaster
peel your potatoes and turnips....then put them in a pot to boil...you should give yourself enough time for the turnips as they take a while....when the potatoes and turnips are soft are you can stick a fork through them they are done...
your should get some cranberry sauce too that goes nice with a turkey dinner....make a nice salad....fruit or cols law salad...that would good!!.....don't forget to make the gravy...buy in a pack if your a beginner...it will be fine...and you won't have any lumps...tell your sister to bring the dessert...and another family member to bring the bread and wine.....and your set.
I'm sure there are lots of other things you can serve such as cooked carrots and bros-sol sprouts....check out a Holiday cook book....easy recipes for you to follow....

Good Luck to you...I now your first turkey dinner can be overwhelming...However once you get started...you'll see its no big deal you'll be fine!!!!!

Merry Christmas happy cooking!!!!!

Well...you could go with the traditional like a ham or turkey with all the trimmings like mashed potatoes, green beans, etc.I can't really cook either but anymore there is plenty of help online as
to how to do it. Neither a ham or turkey takes alot.....just a little prep work and then time in the oven. If you went with a traditional meal....you could ask others to bring a side dish. Most people have something that they fix that they are proud to share.

Good luck and I am sure things will be fine....just remember
it's time shared with others that means the most.
Happy Holidays!

Ooh.

You can't cook, so we should go with something relatively easy.

Turkey's a good one like that other guy said. Usually the recipe will ask you to brine it for a few hours first. A brine (I think) is water and salt and a bunch of spices and you let it sit there in the fridge before you roast it.

Then you just dunp it in the oven for several hours and keep dropping some of its own juice on top of it as it cooks.

You know what? Just look up "Christmas recipes" on the Internet and you're bound to find something.

Traditional ones for me are turkey, ham, meat pie (tourtière in Quebec), garlic mashed potatoes, man there's a lot of stuff.

Look it up and try to find recipes that look easy to make.

Good luck and Merry X-mas.

I wasn't much help. I just love food!

go with the majority of these answers except substitute the turkey for a spiral ham. all you got to do is put it in the oven and forget about it for an hout or two (check the tag for better instructions) but a turkey is thanksgiving food forget about digging out the gizzards and basting and all that a spiral ham is the way to go W/ som sides mashed potatoes, greens, some rolls keep it easy on yourself (it's your first year you'll learn more as the years go on)
since he's not cooking he should just be glad to be be eating something.

unless you don't eat pork then forget the ham idea

Cornish hens, with dressing (stuffing), macaroni and cheese, greens, some kind of bread, yams, fried corn and some kind of salad. My mother in law makes this grape, chicken, shrimp and pasta salad that is out of this world.

Cornish hens are pretty easy to do. Just clean (wash and remove unwanted parts), season and put them in the oven (with about a quarter of an inch of water at the bottom and foil on the top).

Since you can't cook, girl get the CANNED goods, add some butter and seasoning and call it a day!

Good luck and have a wonderful Christmas. As long as you're with your family, the celebration will be great!

a turkey (or ham), some dressing, macaroni & cheese, rolls, and cranberry sauce.
the dressing should be easy. just buy the stovetop cornbread stuffing in the box, and mix in chicken broth and that'll be done. read the directions in the box of the macaroni and that'll work. and as for ham, read the directions on the time to cook and what degree in the oven, and make a glaze for it out of cheery juice, brown sugar, and a little bit of cinnamon. && you got yourself a meal.
:D

We use to make the traditional turkey and/or ham with all the trimmings. But no one really liked that stuff so we make the food we enjoy. For Thanksgiving we made meat tacos with rice and beans. For Christmas we are making tamales. Make something your family will enjoy and that is easy. What about spaghetti or lasagna? Those are easy and you can cheat with jar sauce and garlic bread. Something easy and filling.

I would go with the pre-stuffed turkey...you just have to put it in the oven til its done. (It should come with directions.)

Mashed potatoes with canned gravy, veggies, canned cranberry sauce, rolls with butter and a pumpkin pie for dessert.

Those are some easy ideas!
