I don't think that follows. I wasn't brought up with animals but I like all animals, especially cats. I am the only member of my family who does care about animals.

Many people are brought up in a home w/o pets, and they grow up to be some of the biggest animal lovers. Others, who grew up with dogs & cats, can easily dislike them.
It has nothing to do with if they've had them while growing up. It's just a personal decision.

I was not brought up with any animals in my home and, of course, I just love cats. I am leary of strange dogs and have liked dogs my friends have owned. My brother did not like any house pet - barely tolerated his wife's old cat.

I don't think that is true. You might not be as tolerant of them at first, especially when they are being potty trained, but I'm sure that there are animal lovers out there that for what ever reason just didn't have pets growing up.

Well, maybe I am the exception. When I was young we really did not have animals and now, I have several, I just love them. Now that I am older and my parents say you have so many animals, I tell them see what you have done for me-lol

Not true in my case...my parents didn't want the burden of animals in our house. When I got married, I got a dog, and now have cats, and I love them. Just didn't have the opportunity early in life.

it takes all kinds, sometimes people that are raised on a farm hate animals, and those raised in a city with absolutely no animals, ever, end up living on a farm, or in a zoo (figuratively speaking, meaning a lot of animals in town)

I dont think it works that way. it truly is dependant on the person and how they were raised. just because they didn't have pets growing up, doesn't mean the parents didn't try to instill some sense of understanding for life outside of that person.
