Squared means when means when there is a strait line cut down from your ears to the back of the neck, and then a vertical line to connect them giving the squared, or blocked look. Looks kinda like this.....\_/ Tapered, or tapering, means that the hair conforms to the shape of the head, and is shorter at the nape, and longer in the crown, and top areas. ie. it gets shorter to longer in length from the bottom of the neck to the top of the head.

Hi,
By squared your stylest probly ment cut off with clippers, making a strait line at the at the bottom of your hair style.
By tapered your stylest probly ment not being trimmed off but like a 'feathered' type of style at the bottom. If you had short hair then you probly wouldnt have tapered at the bottom either i would ask your hairdresser before you decide on having anything done!
Good Luck, for next time, and Merry Christmas

Squared means cut straight across tapered means more rounded to form to the shape of your neck. Do not be scared to ask what something means you might end up with something you really don't want.

Squared maens the botten is flat and where it conects with the sides it makes a 90 dagree angle to make the corner square. Tapered is more rounded on the edges to go more natural with your hair line.

He means either cut straight across, or cut so that it ends in a point, like an upside down triangle.
