Fasting by not eating for four days and only drinking 6-8 glasses of water and a one a day vitamin tablet? Will the body lose weight? If so, how much on average for a female or male- age in 30's?
I heard that it cleanses the body too?

Despite getting the proper water intake, a vitamin tablet will not give you the same vitamins and nutrients that food will give you.

Your body needs carbohydrates and protein to function properly. If you fast, you lose energy and certain vitamins that allow your body to work properly. Your body will be exhausted since you are not retaining any sugars that are converted into energy.

Also if you are looking for it as a dieting tool, you will just gain the fat back.

"Short term fasting causes a starvation response that encourages the body to store fat once eating is resumed."
-Wikipedia

Perhaps a better alternative would be portion control and eating heathier (rather than omitting food all together for a couple days).

Take care and good luck!

Cleansing with a juice fast, or with Master Cleanser (warm water, grade b maple syrup, lemon juice, and a tiny bit of cayenne pepper) can be very refreshing and healthy for your body. However, it should not be used as a diet. You will lose weight during the fast, but it does (and should, to be healthy) come back.

I do find it helpful as a sort of "reset" for my body, as afterward I feel like only putting healthy foods in my body.

If you are going to do a fast, please make sure to research it first. There are many types, so it's best to find the one that works for you.

If you have any health problems, especially low blood sugar or low blood pressure, you probably should not fast at all. I'd talk to a doctor or nutritionist first, to be on the safe side.

Good luck! :)

the vitamin is a waste, it only works with nutrients. A fast is thought to be "cleansing," if thats a factor for you. If youre only trying to lose weight, eat 5 very small (2-300 cals) balanced meals a day and exercise more.

Yes, it cleans the body. About losing weight, that is questionable. You will probably immediately lose weight but your body will be confused. When you first eat after 4 days of not eating, your body will be happy to have food and will prepare itself for the next starvation by absorbing as much fat and calories as possible, so you might gain weight then. You should eat slowly. Maybe ease into it by drinking broth, then soup, then eat well.

Best way to lose weight is to exercise and eat modestly at all times.

Good luck

It does cleanse the body when you give your digestive system a complete rest.

You shouldn't fast if you have liver or kidney problems. The detox and fat metabolization stress is too great.

The trick is what to do after your fast. Most people return to the same foods that they were eating so they regain the weight they lose on the fast.

We have a fasting group for Kimkins.com members and they are encouraged to continue making good food choices and instructed on how to break the fast properly.

Best of luck!

Your body is going to start eating itself. And the person who said your body is going to absorb all the fat and calories the next time you eat is exactly right. Your metablolism is going to slow down by a lot. This is not a healthy choice or a good way to lose weight and keep it off. The second you start eating again your body is going to gain it all back, but it will be harder to lose.

After awhile your body will start to "eat itself" by attacking and breaking down muscle tissue. Take a look at photos of concentration camp survivors. That would'nt happen in four days but will if you continue with the fast beyond that.

lol wall after a point yes you will lose wight due to starvation. you will also start to lose calcium from your bones and muscle mass as well asthe possibility of larget problems poping up. when you starve the body it begins to store as much fat and sugars as possible since it doesnt know when it will get its next meal. your best bet is to actually do the opposit. eat 6-8 meals a day but make them small meals or snacks. also work out. there is one easy way to lose weight.

your body will go into survival mode, you will lose a little weight, but will probably gain it back and then some when you do start to eat again. When you starve yourself your body basically feeds on itself, so when you do eat again it will store those foods , it's a bad way to lose weight.

yes it cleanses the body too but you only need to do it for one day.going without food is just a dumb way to lose weight its very unhealthy and if you go to long it could start shutting down your organs because they are not getting the nutrition they need its called anorexia and if you haven't heard it kills
