Last night we noticed our dog slide the inside of his pad (like the webbing)...it looks bad. I already have an appointment for him at the vet first thing Tuesday for a mole he needs removed. They cant get me in before that unless it is an emergency.
We cleaned it out, put neosporin on it and wrapped it up. We arent letting him run around (which is really hard, he has so much energy) and are checking it often. I checked it this morning and it looks like it has sealed its self up and looks clean. We will continue to clean it, put medication on it and keep it wrapped when he goes outside to do his business.
Do you think if we continue doing this, he will be ok until Tuesday when the vet can look at it?

Poor baby. It is probably just fine, but my dogs are like my children. If it were me, I would take him to an emergency vet or to another vet altogether if my regular one couldn't get him in today. Tuesday is a long time and what if it gets infected?

If you can keep him confined and keep the tear clear and wrapped and the dog doesn't seem to be in pain, you might get away with waiting.
Did you call your vet and ask them what you should do? If you should wait until Tuesday to have this seen?
The pad of a foot is very sensitive and can get infected very easily. It is a hard area to keep clean. Maybe the vet will prescribe antibiotics as a preventative until Tuesday. I would call them and let them know the situation and they can determine if this is an emergency or not. Personally, I would want the dog seen. A non-emergency would be for routine exam, vaccines, re-check, etc.

Keep it clean and wrapped and just put a plastic baggy over it when you take him outside so he doesn't get any dirt or nasty stuff in it! We had dogs at our shelter do that all the time and thats what our vet did, until it could heal.

You're doing exactly the right thing and I'm sure he'll be ok. Just keep an eye on it and make sure it doesn't get infected. When our dog injured her foot in a similar way, we did that and then put one of those dog booties on her foot so she couldn't chew of the bandage and so nothing got into it.

I think that if you continue to keep it fairly clean while he heals, he should be fine. Depending on the depth of the cut, it may not be necessary to take him to the vet. Let the wound breathe while he's in the house. Wounds heal faster when exposed to open air.

I would not wrap it up if I were you. His foot needs air and stuff to heal. So let it air out when he lays down and as you said keep him off that foot. That will make it worse. Do whatever you can to speed up the healing process (like keeping the foot unwrapped and putting ointment on it)

An extremely good home remedy is to cut an onion up into small thin slices and apply that to a dog's foot when he has cut his pad. wrap it and it will remove any infection and heal within two days.

You did about what the Vet would do. Just stay with it, checking everyday or even twice a day. Great job!

You are doing the correct things. If you notice your dog licking his wound, his doing the right thing too. It is not a wives tail. They do lick their wounds to heal them. If you were not around he would have taken care of it himself. But like me, you love your pet, and a trip to the vet proves it.
