Y must they use drill when clean teeth? very painful! is there other alternative?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
pls advise, thanks! yesterday i called up a dental clinic and requested for this dentist to give me jab before cleaning my teeth. he quoted an additional $200 for the jab!!!!! How could that be?!!! Broad daylite robbery!!! Think i idoit??? Anyway anyone know any dentist got any other way to clean teeth beside the stupid drilling??

Drilling is usually just to remove tooth decay such as a cavity. Most dentist don't even do the cleanings they leave it up to the hygienist. You can request that they use gas before the cleaning or even prescribe a mild sedative that you can take an hour or so before. You would need a driver with the sedative. I usually get numbed before a cleaning as my teeth are very sensative and it does cost more unfortunately. If pain is the issue, you could schedule to have a cleaning in conjunction with a tooth repair that way you are already numb.

Actually, dentists dont drill into teeth when they clean. Sure they use a rotary tool, but they arent going into the tooth. The extra cost is coming from the anestesia you requested, which requires the dentists expert hand to administer.

ultrasonic scaler used to clean teeth, not drill. If u mean clearing decay b4 filling, then good news on horizon, there is a laser which cuts thro' decay, so no more drill!!!!

Some dentist will knock you out before they clean your teeth but I don't think that is very healthy, if I was you I would just go get them cleaned.
