I collect family recipes, its a passion of mine and would love to know what your favourite family recipe is and whether it is a recipe handed down from generation to generation.

Will happily give the best answer to the recipe that makes my mouth water the most :o)

Try this one. It was just given to me by my fiance's mother because it's a family favorite.

Martha Washington Balls

1 2-lb bag powered sugar
1 stick butter, melted
14 oz shredded coconut
1 can eagle brand milk
4 cups chopped pecans
1 teaspoon vanilla
pinch salt
2 bars chocolate almond bark, melted over double-boiler.

Mix all ingredients together except chocolate. Roll into small balls, about 1” in diameter. Freeze for 2 hours on cookie sheet. Roll balls in melted chocolate. Let dry on wax paper.

This recipe was handed down from my grandmother:
Fudge Cake
1 egg
1 cup sugar Heat these 4 ingredients together
1/2 Lard
pinch of salt
Alternate w/ 1 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp soda in 1/2 cup sour milk
2 tblsps. cocoa
1 tsp. Baking Powder
1/2 cup warm water
Bake at 350 degree for 35 minute

Icing
1 1/2 cup powdered sugar
2 tblsps. cocoa
cup of water thin with coffee

I have never tried making this but I have eaten it, it is delicious!!

Molasses Cookies- from my husbands great grandmother.

2 1/4 C flour
1/4 C molasses
1 C brown sugar
3/4 C shortening
1 egg
2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cloves
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp ginger

Roll into 1" balls. Roll balls in sugar. Bake at 375 for 8-10 min.

Shanghai Pasta

Ingredients
8 ounces dried fusilli, linguine, or spaghetti
3 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp bottled plum sauce
1 tbsp toasted sesame oil
1/2 tsp red chili paste (optional)
1 tbsp cooking oil
1 medium red and/or green sweet pepper, cut into bite-size pieces
1 cup fresh green beans, cut into 1-inch pieces or 1 cup pea pods, trimmed
12 ounces frozen peeled and deveined large shrimp without tails, thawed (26 to 30 shrimp per lb. count)
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp grated fresh ginger
1/4 tsp ground black pepper
2 green onions, bias sliced into 1 inch pieces
2 tsp sesame seeds, toasted

Directions
Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain. Set aside. Keep warm. For sauce, stir together soy sauce, plum sauce, sesame oil, and chili paste (if using). Set aside.

Pour cooking oil into a wok or large skillet. Cook and stir sweet pepper and beans in hot oil for 5 minutes. Push from center of wok. Add shrimp, garlic, ginger, and black pepper to center of wok. Cook and stir for 2 to 3 minutes or until shrimp are opaque. Stir in sauce and pea pods. Stir in pasta; heat through. To serve, top with onions and sesame seeds. Makes 4 main-dish servings

cheese & ham dip
2 cup of cheese [any brand works]
2 cups of ham diced-smaill peices
1 cup of salsa-chucky okay
1 cup of pizza cheese,
In a mixing bowl ,add all items in a micro wave bowl,add items mix,stir twice,cook on high til creamy,stir again, cook on high for 1 minute. its good as dip/like a gravey over different foods, like mashed potatoes,over meats, its simple fast,and it is a simple quick snack for kids,give them some chips,have fun ,merry christmas.......good luck........
