Oh my god u are in luck, I'm from chicago. I'm having my wedding at a very elegant ballroom. The prices vary but it cost half as cheap if you do it on any other day than Saturday. The website is www.michellesballroom.com. They don't have designated catering, so you can serve what ever you want from where ever you want. They have room for 250 people. They also have center peices that you can use, and they're actually white. I didn't really care for them but if your on a budget they'll work. There is no extra charge if you have the ceremony there, the rental is only for 5 hours, you can however rent it for extra hours if need be. There is a craft store called Metro it's on Addison and central, I went there and I really didn't care for it, a lot of their stuff is really out dated. You can go to Micheal's, Joann's or the Dollar Store. I've also found alot of stuff on the internet. Ikea is also a good place to get vases, candles, and stuff like that. If you need more info pick my answer as ur best, so that I know your interested and I'll send u my email address.

The internet is the best place to find the best deals. Google everything. The hotels where I live have halls and ballrooms you can rent for the day or a few hours (typically older five star hotels). Keep in mind set up time/clean up time when renting by hour. Also, go to the book store and get the Wedding Solutions Organizer Book. It has timelines, check lists, everything you need. Good Luck!

Ok...
1) Get fake flowers. It may seem wierd but it is a whole lot cheaper. They look very nice and are not expensive. You can get them at Michaels or Joanne's.
2) I live in Michigan and a great hall I got married at was LaFayette Grande in Pontiac. Hall and ceremony in same building and the building has tons of character. Very old and historic.
3)Buy your favors in bulk. We got little carriages we used as place markers, but also the favors.
4)Make your own invitations. We made out own and you can get the make your own at a Office Max or something of that sort. It is time consuming but will save you a lot of money in the long run.

Hope this all helps.

I just got married in June. My husband is east indian & I am Italian. We had a civil ceremony in the hall so that we weren't picking anyone's faith or customs. We did it our way. What we liked is what we did. You just have to stand your ground.

As far as favours & accessories try out the site that I used. They ship anywhere in the world & they have some really unique stuff...your probably just in time for new stuff since new years is just around the corner. When I was shopping for my stuff I found that any new items came out in January so now is the perfect time. The site is finallythebride.com. I just followed the links & shopped. It was a wonderful experience!

Good Luck & Congratulations!

Try the book, "Bridal Bargains." The couple who wrote it update it every couple of years, and have done years' worth of research in it. It's great.

Also, try garage sales, ebay, estate sales, antique stores, etc. for things like favors and especially for those glass vases. My fiance's mom is an antiques dealer, and finds vases at the above mentioned places all the time--for very little money.

I can't help you with any of your requests, but congratulations on getting married. You are so sweet with your excitement. I wish you and your husband nothing but happiness. And I only warn you to think long and hard about bringing a baby into this world at this time in our history. I would be very cautious. It sure seems like the entire world has gone nuts.

make some of the favors yourself. I did. It turned out to be the one thing that everyone saved and still has. Even my guy friends that can't keep anything nice!
