My daughter has a bed time on school nights because she needs her rest. She is 17 and she goes to bed with lights out at 10:30. It takes her time to wind down after a hard day. If she goes to bed later than that she can't seem to get up in the morning.

Because they need to have plenty of rest so that they will be able to learn at school the next day. Children need about 10 hours of sleep a night. Their brains function better when they are rested and so they will do better in school. Plus it is hard to get them up in the morning if they haven't had enough sleep the night before.

Without a good nights sleep, its hard to get out of bed and to function for the day, that goes true with children and adults, they have alot to learn and need to be well rested to be alert in class, and children just like adults get really cranky if they don't get enough sleep, why would you want to put the teacher through 20+ cranky kids, we'd never have any teachers!

because they are 7 and to do well at school they need 11 hrs of sleep. If they stay up late they will still get up at the same time and then they don't learn properly and are grumpy. My kids just got their end of year reports and have done brilliantly so it pays off. they are going into Grade 2 in February and already able to do this level work so school is easy. When kids sleep well they learn well and are happy. Mine have loved grade one and are looking forward to the challenges grade two will hold

You would think this is obvious but...here it goes. I want my child in bed early on school nights so [and this may shock you] he'll do better in school! Study after study has shown that children who are well rested do better than those who are not. It's a simple fact and it's something that should be done. I want my child to do his best therefore I do all I can to make sure he does.

If my child was old enough to go to school I would want her to go to bed early so she would feel well rested in the morning and not be so grouchie and not wanna get up. I use to stay up half the night watching tv and them wanna fight with my mom about getting up for school. So Teach your children young about going to bed a the bed time you have set and they will, I wish my mom would have inforced that on me :( Good Luck Hope this answers your question

Because no human being can function well without a good night's sleep. Kids are still growing, and use a lot of energy during the day, so they need more hours of sleep at night.

My 7 year old grandson lives with me and I can tell you that when he stays up too late it is very hard to get him up for school. And then he has a bad day --doesn't finish his work, etc

When he goes to bed earlier, he wakes up on his own and has a much better day.

That makes it pretty much a no-brainer ----early bedtime when there is school the next day!
