What do you guys think of limewire?

a lot of people are saying limewire is the best, but then others say it is full of spyware and viruses. So what do you think?

it is full of junk.......Limewire, is a good shareware program if you learn to use it with caution. You have to be careful, if the file is just too big , like 5000kb's for a 2 minute song, forget it..(.a 2 minute song should be in the 2000kbs range)... or if there is no bit rate, don't get that one.. (a normal bit rate will be at least 128) . Download all music and videos , to a temporary file on you desktop and scan the files for virus and spyware , BEFORE you put it into your computer.

Depends on what you're downloading I've found. Bearshare is good for some things and Limewire others. All have the potential for viruses so just make sure your security is set up to combat this.

The good thing about it is that it has every thing on it you could imagine. The bad things: It does slow down your computer because first of all it uses Java, second it probably does have viruses, trojans, spyware, malware,ransomware etc......... And another thing is that what you will probably will be downloading is illegal, so theres that. Not to scare you or anything but there have been thousands of arrests of people who use P2P! Yea.Scary.

Using limewire and other similar programs is like having sex: Always use protection!! I would reccommend a good firewall/antivirus program. I use norton internet security 2006. It's really good. SCAN EVERYTHING YOU DOWNLOAD!! VIRUSES ARE EVERYWHERE IN LIMEWIRE. if all you download is music and pics you're pretty much safe... if you're out there downloading programs and keygens you'll get so many viruses it can really mess up your pc. don't mess with limewire unless you have a reallly strong security program in place!!! good luck

I Like it. Limewire allows me to get music free, and do what I want with it.

There are other websites where you can download the music for free, but it won't let you migrate it to your MP3 player, or burn it to a CD.

It takes longer to get a whole album, but it's worth it.

As for the viruses, I have enough security that if a virus does get on my hard drive, it isin't there for very long.

My friend got limewire, and later, after she used it for about a year, her iPod broke, and she took it to the Apple store, and she didn't tll them she was using Limewire, but they knew. They said Limewire can damage your iPod. If you want to use it, do it, but if you wanna be safe, Christmas is 3 days away, sooooo iTunes Card! lol :) oh, and they gave her a new iPod, but it wasnt personalized. ITS FULLLL OF VIRUSES, and she doest use it anymore, its also illleagal.

Well.....It depends on what you download.If you download sizes of 197.7 Kb, 750-800Kb & 850-900Kb, you are sure to get viruses.
Also,lets say you are downloading Adobe Photoshop CS2. Now, it obviously cant be only 1000Kb or whatever value it does not suit.It will obviously be in Mb.
Even if you download viruses, if you have McAfee, it automically removes the virus as you open it.

It's not illegal. Downloading illegal stuff is illegal. Limewire is a perfectly legal P2P file sharing program. What you do with it is your decision.
I use it, rarely. I took it off my PC because I did get a virus from downloading a file. I don't really trust the content that comes from it.

I've been using it for about 2 years and i never got any virus or spyware.

It's illegal, however I never knew anyone to have a problem with spyware or viruses so far - it's good to have spyware protection just in case however
