I always store mine in the freezer. I have always done this with any flour I have. Always. No bugs this way. Just remember if you're going to use it, take it out an hour or so before (at least the amount you'll need) since some recipes will be affected by having ice cold flour.

I always wrap the unopened bags in a couple of those plastic produce bags, then store in a cool part of the cupboard.
Flour will last indefinitely in the freezer, but I find for me, it just steals too much of my valuable freezer space.
Dreyer's or Flour ?? The flour is going to be booted out.

Look at the use-by date listed on the bag -- you'll notice it is quite some time in the future. I've not had problems keeping an unopened bag as noted above for over a year after purchase.
In fact, I'll often load up during the holidays as they often sell it deeply discounted. Space becomes a problem.

So, use what would otherwise be unused produce bags, or, shopping bags. Take a marker to the bags and mark the date purchased -- so you'll know which bag to use next.

Happy future baking -- with old (no one will ever know) flour.

As soon as I bring the flour home from the store, I put it into the freezer . That will kill any little bugs that may be forming. You know, those tiny little ones that all of a sudden you find. I read about that a few years ago, and have never had a bug since. If I don't have room for the whole bag in my canister, I keep the remaining in the freezer.

I always store my flour in the freezer. I also store any unopened bags of sugar, potatoe chips, cereal and gallons of milk in the freezer. It works great! As long as none of them have been opened, they will keep in the freezer and the chips and cereal are nice and crisp when you open them. It great for when I stock up on these items.

I bought a set of four tupperware type storage things from Wal-Mart for my sugar and flours. It can get humid here with all the rain, and the flour and sugar never clumps since they're sealed well.
