What draft, hahahahaha, the loons are loose today I see.
"One way or the other, we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop weapons
of mass destruction and the missiles to deliver them. That is our bottom line." - President
Clinton, Feb. 4, 1998
"If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to
seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program." -
President Clinton, Feb. 17, 1998
Iraq is a long way from here, but what happens there matters a great deal here. For the
risks that the leaders of a rogue state will use nuclear, chemical or biological weapons
against us or our allies is the greatest security threat we face." - Madeline Albright, Feb
18, 1998
"He will use those weapons of mass destruction again, as he has ten times since 1983." -
Sandy Berger, Clinton National Security Adviser, Feb, 18,1998
"We urge you, after consulting with Congress, and consistent with the U.S. Constitution
and laws, to take necessary actions (including, if appropriate, air and missile strikes on
suspect Iraqi sites) to respond effectively to the threat posed by Iraq's refusal to end its
weapons of mass destruction programs." - Letter to President Clinton, signed by Sens.
Carl Levin (D-MI), Tom Daschle (D-SD), John Kerry ( D - MA), and others Oct. 9,1998
"Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction
technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the
weapons inspection process." - Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D, CA), Dec. 16, 1998
"Hussein has ... chosen to spend his money on building weapons of mass destruction and
palaces for his cronies." - Madeline Albright, Clinton Secretary of State, Nov. 10, 1999
"There is no doubt that ... Saddam Hussein has invigorated his weapons programs.
Reports indicate that biological, chemical and nuclear programs continue apace and may
be back to pre-Gulf War status. In addition, Saddam continues to redefine delivery
systems and is doubtless using the cover of an illicit missile program to develop
longer-range missiles that will threaten the United States and our allies." - Letter to
President Bus h, Signed by Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL,) and others, December 5, 2001
"We begin with the common belief that Saddam Hussein is a tyrant and threat to the
peace and stability of the region. He has ignored the mandated of the United Nations.
"We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing
weapons of mass destruction." - Sen. Ted Kennedy (D, MA), Sept. 27, 2002
"The last UN weapons inspectors left Iraq in October of 1998. We are confident that
Saddam Hussein retains some stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons, and that he
has since embarked on a crash course to build up his chemical and biological warfare
capabilities. Iraq's search for weapons of mass destruction has proven impossible to deter
and we should assume that it will continue for as long as Saddam is in power." - Al Gore,
Sept. 23, 2002
Intelligence reports indicate that he is seeking nuclear weapons..." - Sen.
Robert Byrd (D, WV), Oct. 3, 2002
"There is unmistakable evidence that Saddam Hussein is working aggressively to develop
nuclear weapons and will likely have nuclear weapons within the next five years ... We
also should remember we have always underestimated the progress Saddam has made in
development of weapons of mass destruction."- Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D, WV), Oct 10,
2002
"He has systematically violated, over the course of the past 11 years, every significant
UN resolution that has demanded that he disarm and destroy his chemical and biological
weapons, and any nuclear capacity. This he has refused to do" - Rep. Henry Waxman (D,
CA), Oct. 10, 2002
"In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein
has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery
capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to
terrorists, including al Qaeda members. It is clear, however, that if left unchecked,
Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical
warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons." - Sen. Hillary Clinton (D,
NY), Oct 10, 2002
"We are in possession of what I think to be compelling evidence that Saddam Hussein
has, and has had for a number of years, a developing capacity for the production and
storage of weapons of mass destruction." - Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL), Dec. 8, 2002
"I will be voting to give the President of the United States the authority to use force-if
necessary-to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons
of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security." - Sen. John F.
Kerry (D, MA), Oct. 9,2002
"Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous
dictator, leading an oppressive regime ... He presents a particularly grievous threat
because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation ... And now he is miscalculating
America's response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass
destruction... So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real"
- Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Jan. 23. 2003

All you see on the news is the people that don't want our democracy. I have talked to several marines that were there, and many want our democracy. You have no idea what you are talking about. The entire war is based on morals. It is immoral to terrorize innocent people. It is not immoral to take a stand against such people. Where is your patriotism? Where is your sense of love for your country? Where is your support for our troops? You do not see a correlation between a war on terror and the need to set up a democracy? Terrorism began because of the dictatorship that was in place. The dictatorship is gone and there is a need for a protective government. Yes, there will be a civil war among those disagreeing on what type of government to use, but the US has a need to stay and put a government in place, because the US is responsible for ending the dictatorship. I think everyone would agree that Sadam is getting what he deserves.

Nothing wrong with it, unless you consider the minor detail that it's illegal............
Why do some folks automatically assume that when they hear draft, they think Republican? Check your facts, it is the Democrats proposing the draft.
I have been on both sides of that draft fence. I volunteered for the Army, then I was recalled and served in Desert Storm.
Not only that, I am rejoining the Army in 6 months at the age of 40 and doing my third tour. It is a privilege to live in this country, not a right as most people believe. If you don't want the responsibility that goes along with your continuing decision to live here, by all means, leave.
We all are forced to live with things we don't agree with, I don't agree with having to drive 55, but I do it anyway because it is the right thing to do. Simply, what are the consequences of indecision?

Bzzzz! Incorrect Question.
"Fake War Draft"? What the heck is that? If you're referring to what some demagogues are referring the stop-loss as, please refrain from asking questions. Stop-loss is for people already in the military. And the same would (has) happened during other conflicts. It's part of the contract.
The President can not create a draft. There is not a "fake draft".
Now, read carefully:
If a draft does get passed by a bicameral Congress, and is signed into law by the sitting president, and it passes the third check and balance (I'll let you guess as to what that is) - Go to Canada! I'd hate to have any of my former comrades in arms be stuck in a firefight with someone that would consider bugging out on them.

I have to say that if you are an American it is wrong to avoid a draft. It is not only your duty but should be your honor to fight for our country. If you think the war is wrong then take a stand and fight to get this president removed from office. Don't run and hide like a coward. I really don't think this question is needed seeing as how the draft is not going to be reinstated.

Straight out of Bush's mouth!
"You know, when I campaigned here in 2000, I said, I want to be a war President. No President wants to be a war President, but I am one." --George W. Bush, Des Moines, Iowa, Oct. 26, 2006
"We're never been stay the course, George." --George W. Bush, attempting to distance himself from what has been his core strategy in Iraq for the last three years, interview with ABC's George Stephanopoulos, Oct. 22, 2006
( but they said "We Will Stay the Course" 29 times in speeches)
"If this were a dictatorship, it would be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I am the dictator"
"Terrorists never stop thinking of ways to harm our country - and neither do we"
"You know, one of the hardest parts of my job is to connect Iraq to the war on terror." --George W. Bush, interview with CBS News' Katie Couric, Sept. 6, 2006
"Trying to stop suiciders -- which we're doing a pretty good job of on occasion -- is difficult to do. And what the Iraqis are going to have to eventually do is convince those who are conducting suiciders who are not inspired by Al Qaeda, for example, to realize there's a peaceful tomorrow." --George W. Bush, Washington, D.C., May 24, 2006
"I strongly believe what we're doing is the right thing. If I didn't believe it -- I'm going to repeat what I said before -- I'd pull the troops out, nor if I believed we could win, I would pull the troops out." --George W. Bush, Charlotte, N.C., April 6, 2006
The only way we can win is to leave before the job is done." --George W. Bush, Greeley, Colo., Nov. 4, 2006
Bush is both out of touch and an idiot!

Man, you guys make me laugh....hahahaha
Fake war?....draft?
If you want to run because you don't want to fight for the freedoms you enjoy today. Then go....I'm not going to stop you. Show everyone you are a coward. Just do me a favor.....when you leave do come back....ever. I'm not saying that to be mean...I'm saying that because you don't deserve to live under the freedom that men and women in our military are fighting for on a daily basis. I am serving with those men and women and have been for 12 years. You don't want to fight ok, not a problem. You want to leave this country if a draft is instated (which will never happen).....then go.

First of all there is no draft.Period. Secondly, you have to remember that our Army is a "VOLUNTEER Army" which means that all of our soldiers are going where they're told to go because they raised their right hands and committed themselves in an obligation to do so. Thirdly, whether we've recieved bad intel. or not what difference is it to you? Are you in the military, fighting in the forces which guard "OUR COUNTRY" against all opposition, be it foreign or domestic? If not, be quiet and leave the battles to those who are there.Whether you support the war or not at the least SUPPORT THE TROOPS,they're doing their job.SO if you want to run off to Canada like a coward ,go ahead. We'll send Mr. Boitano an e-mail and let him know you're coming.

Get your facts straight, honey - it's not Bush's draft. Charlie Wrangel (D, NY) is the one who's trying to force the draft.
As to the rest of it, Canada is lovely. Need help packing?
"They don't want our democracy" Yeah, that was pretty obvious at the last Iraqi election, when millions of people defied the insurgents to vote. They definitely aren't interested. Moron!
You, sir, are a disgrace.

I don't believe there will be a draft, and I hope there won't be. but to ease your mind, there is always the option of becoming a conscientious objector and staying in America. Being philosophically against war and especially this war, does not make you less American. In fact it shows you use your brains to ponder freedom and rights that are given to us. America needs more people like you... see what the war mongering mentality elected into presidency? Yikes!

Canada is a huge united states of america. i might stay there if i did no longer stay in Texas yet i do unlike chilly climate or socialism. there are a number of places in usa that are chillier than places in Canada. to illustrate the east and west coasts of Canada are warmer than the middle of the continent. The Coast of British Columbia is a lot warmer interior the wintry climate than North Dakota to illustrate. the element is ... nowhere in Canada is warmer than Texas! ask your self ask your self... maximum Canadians do no longer opt to stay right here and prefer it basically fantastic up there.
