The great thing about love is that when you are going through the tough times, all the great things and positive things that brought you together, keep the love strong. I think if you never lost a love or if you were never hurt by love, you might not know how to make the next love stronger and better than the one before.

Real love doesn't hurt. Real love is built from mutual respect. Real love communicates and apologizes when mistakes are made. Real love does last a lifetime, because it's based on friendship.
Obsession hurts. Obsession is often "loving for two." Obsession is the push-pull of one person offering crumbs of affection to control another. Obsession lasts as long as one person allows suffering to keep going.
I find that people neutering the word LOVE has hurt it. If a person says "I love you" to get sex, they only wanted sex and knew you were romantic enough to fall for it.
You wouldn't say: "Oh, I really have a committed relationship with that dress; where did you get it?" or "Oh, I just have a committed relationship with cheesecake! I have to stay away from it because it's so high-calorie!"
Well, real love means a committed relationship. It means being available for someone yet loving yourself and them enough to walk away if they're trying to drag you down or abuse you (not loving YOU).
