Apologises can't mend a broken heart. This person shouldn't be acting bitter, and I won't try to excuse them, but what I will say is that you should try and be patient and give them some space. I know it can be difficult (and how!) but time will eventually help to heal them.
Though, having said that, the bitterness is probably counter productive to this healing process, so staying far away might be the best course of action, especially as kindness can drive that person even further away from you as it makes them feel even more worthless.

Sounds like my mother. She will hold a grudge/s till the day she dies. I will answer based on what I see in her. I hope it helps you. Things have been said and done to her that go back to her younger years. She has never forgiven the people involved. When you don't forgive, the anger stays inside you and grows. It does not leave over time unless you forgive. Obviously the more you hold onto anger, the more bitter you become. Have you ever heard the saying "Kill them with kindness"? Well it works. My advice would be to understand that these people have some deep routed issues that make them unforgiving people. Show them kindness with a glad heart, no matter what their response is. Eventually they will come around.

Lazydazy, it may be because of your name. A simple apology is necessary if you step on someone's toes. Maybe a lazy daisy and a smile might do. But if you cause them actual harm, you have to compensate them for it. And there is some harm that you can never compensate for. If you cost someone their child, how can you pay them back for that? You need to think about morality and life in a much deeper sense, while you still have a life to hope for. You can't mistreat your friends, backstab anyone, gossip or malign them, disrespect others, and expect to have anyone left who cares about you. And it is possible that in the crowd you are in, in the company that you keep, that immorality is the underlying cause of everyone's bitterness. You are a product of the company you keep. Go to church and change your lifestyle. You'll end up a strong and happy flowering girl.

Well I think most people use I'm sorry the same as they use I love you. Just because you apologize for something doesn't mean the person has to accept the apology and get over it. Maybe they feel as though if you cared about them you wouldn't have done whatever it was in the first place.

If you have apologized and they can't get past it, that's their problem. We can't control how other people feel or what they decide to do, but if you made a mistake, and acknowledged it, you did your part. It may take them longer to move on because they were the ones that got hurt, but its not like the world is going to stop until they have made up their mind.

People have alot of resentment towards things that we sometimes don't even know about. I know when people are unahppy with themselves or with life, they loose faith and they don't believe. People like that are weak people and let evil get at them and it eats them up insie..even if it is the dumbest thing, it can still bother them and make them an angry individual. If they want to be that way and waiste thier life please don't let them ruin your life...move on and wish them well and maybe they will look up to you and move on also.

If you really did apologize and really meant it when you did then the person that you are apologizing to.....they are just a jerk! Tell the person that you are not going to apologize anymore...then don't apologize. More then likely the person just wants attention.

Somethings cannot be undone with an apology, no matter how many times that apology is given!

Afterall you cannot kill someone, say sorry and expect that body to revive itself.
